Loved that movie. Very cool practical and cgi effects with a great story and surprisingly good acting at the time (to me, anyway. I think it was Jim Carrey’s first “serious” film)
Amazing soundtrack/score, too. Jon Brion knocked it out of the park
I’d say The Truman Show is serious but I also think I get what you mean. Truman still sometimes overacts in the typical Jim Carrey fashion. (The rain scene comes to mind.)
All that said I also absolutely love Eternal Sunshine. Maybe time for another rewatch.
That’s a fair point. I guess this was the first film where I felt like he wasn’t playing a Jim Carrey character
