I legit stopped watching because of the break. I wasn’t about to endure the new Amazon ads just for this show. It’s good, but not THAT good.
The commercials aren’t bad but I feel like they are boiling the frog. A few before the show starts isn’t annoying now but within 5 years it’s commercials every 15 minutes like broadcast TV.
You made the right call to just stop. The last episode of the season wasn’t even great. Just dimension hopping fan service: oooh spiderman, oooh zombies, oooh batman.
If you download it in the prime app (on windows) you dont get ads till after the episode is over.

I may be a tad biased, but I’d say the second half of the season (especially the last episode) is very much worth watching. Many plot points have been improved from the comics, and it felt satisfying the whole way through to me.
That said, fuck the break, and fuck Amazon. Don’t give them money just to watch the series.
I agree that overall the second half was good. It was only last episode with it’s the dimension hopping time filler that annoyed me when it could have been Nolan’s rescue.
I won’t spoil anything from the comics, but let me just say - if Nolans rescue had happened in that episode, they would have had to rush through things that shouldn’t be. The whole sequence with Angstrom was the climactic resolution for the setup of episode 1, just like in season 1. It was essentially a “boss fight”, and Angstroms strength doesn’t lie in the physical (as we saw), but in his dimensional abilities. I don’t think there’s a better way to turn those into a satisfying boss fight than what happened, especially since it fits Angstroms character(s) well - he’s methodical and well-prepared.
They didn’t have to have all of Nolan’s rescue. But the dimension hopping was a little too much filler. It didn’t even make sense given Angstrom claimed he was “softening him up”. Chatting with Batman is “softtening him up” ?
Again, trying not to spoil things - they couldn’t even have started Nolan’s rescue without rushing things. Allen’s plan isn’t to get in there and break him out immediately.
The Marvel and DC dimensions were part of the dimension-hopping because they actually have some pretty dangerous villains. Angstrom can’t predict exactly who will be at the portal the second he sends Mark there, but those dimensions do hold a lot of dangers that would soften him up. That’s not guaranteed, so he sends him through dimension after dimension.
Of course the bigger reason is that it was a really funny moment in the comics, and was brought to screen very nicely. In the comics, the Spider-Man thing was even bigger - Invincible actually appeared in a Spider-Man issue!
Advertising ruins everything.
