Sorry, wasn’t being sarcastic. I was trying to remember some of my favourite comic strips when I was at the library recently. I knew I was missing a few but couldn’t recall them and I haven’t picked up a newspaper for the comics in years. Pearls Before Swine is one of the strips I was trying to remember, and I haven’t had it cross my path in a while.
Oh yeah, totally agree about Deanna’s early outfit.
One of my favourites. Haven’t seen it on the Fediverse at all.

Technology@beehaw.org•Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly building an AI clone to replace him in meetings
9·5 days agoHe could be having a midlife crisis. Maybe he wants an AI avatar to succeed him after he dies.
But there was a guy in a skirt just as short as those worn in the original series. Right there in the opening scene of the first episode.

Technology@beehaw.org•Ian's Is Still The Best Site For Tying Your Shoelaces
7·3 months agoI learned Ian’s Secure Knot because sometimes you get shoe laces that are slippery and never stay tied. The secure knot is way better than doing a double knot as you can easily untie it.
I also visit the site right after buying new shoes or boots and look up lacing patterns and pick something fun. I’m currently using Spider Web lacing.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the oldest video game you still find yourself playing?
4·4 months agoJust played the NES Contra yesterday for the first time in probably over a decade. Still can beat it first try although I did have to use a couple of continuous on stage 4. I’m so used to not dying that I forgot where to find the good weapons. But for stages 5-8 I still had all the muscle memory of where to shoot and when that I developed as a kid.
I drank the first half, you can drink the rest.

Linux@programming.dev•SSH Pilot is now a feature-rich server management toolbox!
4·4 months agoI’m very interested in this and will try it out. There was another connection manager that the author posts on Lemmy, but the memory usage was very high due to the amount of docker containers used. A quick glance showed no requirement for docker. The ssh port forwarding could be a very useful feature for my work right now.
The exercise bit is so important. I’m mid 40s recently started working out with weights again after about 6 years of being somewhat sedentary other than running/walking dogs. Almost instantly I had worked out some pain my shoulder had been giving me that had been preventing me from sleeping well, and I don’t grunt when getting up from a crouched position anymore. Also just feeling better and more capable all around.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Horror games of 90s - 31 scary PC games from the 90s that left terrible scars of delight and nightmare on my soulEnglish
2·5 months agoThis is a really neat and well written list of games. It’s so interesting how different these games were from the console games at the time. So many live acted sequences with pre rendered backgrounds. The only game I knew of beforehand was Phantasmagoria, but Dark Seed was ringing a bell. Perhaps a friend had that one. I might have to try some of these games.

I enjoyed The Long Walk for the same reason. Very faithful adaptation of my favourite Bachman book, although I am hoping for a director’s cut. I didn’t see any trailers before watching so I was very surprised and pleased to see who the actor for The Major was. The interactions between all the kids is just great.
So you enjoyed the remake of The Running Man over the Schwarzenegger version? Or was it just a different beast?
