Could be something wrong with CDNs in your area. I personally downloaded Witcher 3 offline version 2 days ago and I got the full 600mbps my ISP provides.

2·il y a 19 joursNot for audio. At least for now you can see clearly artifacts in the spectrals when you inspect them. AI simply can’t recreate real compositions.

World News@lemmy.world•Starmer expected to resign on Monday and set out orderly exitEnglish
8·il y a 29 joursThe guy has 0 charisma. He doesn’t have an opinion on anything or is scared to voice it. He promised to change things for the better (that was his entire campaign, no actual plans on how to get it done) and so far he failed catastrophically. You have to understand that after 14 years of Tory leadership ANYTHING else was better and that’s the entire reason Labour won. The guy is an actual clown. He isn’t right wing enough for the right wingers and he’s not left wing enough for the left wingers. That combined with the fact he’s just killing time in office made him extremely unpopular. Every terror attack on minorities had zero reaction from his party outside of the usual “we condemn this behavior, this is not what the UK is about” and then proceed to do nothing.
There’s probably more to rant about

It’s still that sadly, they tried fixing it with new rules mid season and it slightly got better but it’s still the same more or less
I switched to UK streams of F1 for this exact reason. It’s out of hand.

Technology@lemmy.world•You Don't Love systemd Timers EnoughEnglish
9·il y a 2 moisI dunno, systemd timers seem overcomplicated, cron is simple and universal (as in expected to be on every system install in one of its variants). You only need to learn how to set the time once and if you’re having difficulties setting up time you can use a website crontab.guru
Cron’s simplicity also makes it bulletproof, it just runs things on a schedule, that’s it. You can’t expect it to crash or give you any trouble.

4·il y a 2 moisI use JF for movies/shows. I feel where JF falls short is music, and sadly for now, without a paid solution which I don’t feel like playing since I bought lifetime pass a decade ago plexamp just does it better. Will it always be like this? God, hope not. The writing is on the wall and the quicker we are off Plex the better.

Technology@lemmy.world•Europe built sovereign clouds to escape US control. Then forgot about the processorsEnglish
25·il y a 2 moisThat’s not what I’m saying. They forgot that cloud compute isn’t the only area where America holds EU by the balls. It’s also the software. You can set up 500 data centers all over Europe and companies still won’t migrate away from M365 or GWorkspace. Cloud compute is good, but there also needs to be an effort to reverse engineer American technology and start offering alternatives.

Steam has a splash screen with ads whenever you open the launcher, I don’t have a console but I assume Xbox/PS/NSW2 also have some sort of advertisements. If the ads bother you that much, you can use innoextract instead of running their installer.
