Correct!

Chop chop.

He discovered electricity and used it to torture small animals and green mountain men.

Correct! That’s the scene!
What’s the episode?
(Also in hindsight I see King’s name on the smaller book.)

Mr. Simpson, I’m trying to teach.

Correct!

I mean the dollar coin never caught on. I know we still printed the dollar bill, so maybe you could force it by halting the dollar bill. But overall I don’t think new coins are the answer.
Based on one source, Cash is only ~20% of transactions. Maybe it will always be 20% or maybe it will be smaller and smaller as time goes on.
I think you’re better off eliminating current coins.

Logically I completely agree. I just don’t think you could convince the US as a whole that’s the way to go.

Just dimes would probably work logically, but it would feel too weird. If you’re going just dimes, you probably just want to go all in and say no coins.

So I don’t know the term for it, maybe it’s just propaganda, but a quarter feels like it has value.
The penny however doesn’t have that feeling. Vending machines often say “No Pennies” and toll booths say “No Pennies”, even though the Penny exists everyone sorta already agreed the Penny wasn’t worth the hassle.
I think you could probably convince people the same is true for the nickel. Although eliminating just the nickel is tricky since you’d keep the dime and quarter and that divides weirdly. So you should also remove the dime but that now really starts to feel like it had value.
But the quarter. That would be a hard sell. You’re basically eliminating all coins at that point. Unless you plan on making the half dollar wayyy more popular.

Next it goes to the senate. Which will need 60 votes. We know that’s not happening.
Procedurally and realistically you’re correct. However technically the “nuclear option” exists to reduce that to a simple majority. There is a 0% chance that will happen, since it didn’t happen to end the 40+ day shutdown, no one is going to use it here.
Plus even if you did, Trump would veto it and it would all be for nothing, as you said.

Absolutely Abbot Elementary is the best show about teachers.
What I enjoyed the most about English Teacher was the interaction with the students.
One of my favorite episodes (spoilers ahead) was when the students were talking the SATs or something and one of the students had accomodations. However she completely abused the accomodations asking for ridiculous things and anytime someone questioned her she just responded with, “You can’t ask me that”, followed immediately by another teacher confirming and warning the original teacher that “You can’t ask that”. Then the incompetent principal shows up and uses reverse psychology to immediately get the student to start.
Actually the funniest episode is when they made a play based on COVID.
It was a fun show.

That’s the crazy part, they did, back in April!
Two US House members, one Democrat and one Republican, and two US Senators, one Democrat and one Republican introduced the bill.
The bill isn’t even that long, https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/3074/text
That’s an easy bipartisan win. I’m not against having a few committee’s review it and getting everything in order… But six plus months for something this simple?!
The “must pass” legislation gets slapped together over a weekend and everyone complains that they don’t get time to read it. They post all over social media a towering bill full of last minute margin changes.
But no one has taken time to move forward a two page pamphlet in six months?
It’s truly mind boggling.

So I think Catholics use a particular brand of Jeez-it that is the wafer that you’re thinking of. Everyone else just uses whatever (like in this post).
The same is also true for the wine. Growing up we had grape juice instead of wine and honestly the bread and grape juice combo was pretty good. Like bread is bread, which is almost always a great choice, but I’ve never been a big fan of grape juice. But a little dip of grape juice in bread… Not bad.
I also don’t know how strict any of this really is. Like would a grape jelly sandwich made with Wonder Bread count as long as you gave it the proper blessing? I feel like it would.

Yes, they would be rendered moot IF (and hopefully when) Congress passes a law.
The last penny was minted today. Companies have already begun to struggle with a lack of pennies.
This isn’t a problem that will happen if Congress does nothing. This is a problem that is happening because Congress did nothing.

Oh no. I either missed that or had forgotten about it.
I hope the allegations aren’t true, but reading about them they certainly seem plausible. I really don’t know.

@TheImpressiveX@lemmy.today You’ve got an extra “%20” at the end of the URL.

I expected this would probably happen, so I’m not hugely disappointed, but still bummed.
Season one was alright and season two was an improvement, but it never really made a big splash.
I appreciate giving shows that have promise a second season and second chance. It’s much better than just cancelling after one season.
So long “English Teacher”, you can join “How I Met Your Father”, and “Adults” will join the club next year.

Not quite, someone else is watching The Simpsons in this scene. Although they weren’t aware.

So I’m less familiar with Delta 9 THC, but my understanding is that both Delta 8 THC and Delta 9 THC are able to be derived/extracted from hemp. If I’m understanding you correctly, it’s a different process for each, but the end result is still that we get one and/or the other.
Additionally both of them have the same restrictions as you mentioned, being less then 0.3% THC by volume, which makes them excellent candidates for edibles and beverages.
I think Delta 9 THC is closer to “traditional” THC, which matches with what you’ve said.
Living in a state that does have recreational cannabis, I was surprised when I first saw Delta 8 THC products sold alongside alcoholic beverages.
So while technically this law change won’t affect me much, I’ve certainly appreciated the destigmatization of “THC” at a federal level.

Thought one: Did they bother to legislate how cash transactions will work without it?
Congress did not. Apparently it causes issues in some states.
In some states and cities, it is illegal to round up a transaction to the nearest nickel or dime because doing so would run afoul of laws that are supposed to place cash customers and debit and credit card customers on an equal playing field when it comes to item costs. So, to avoid lawsuits, retailers are rounding down.
Per AP
It’s also silly because a bill was introduced in April to answer this question, but it’s just sitting around. You know how busy Congress is nowadays. (Also similar bills have come up in the past, but also just sat around and nothing became of them.)
If you’ll pardon my insanity for a moment, there is something to be said for the Executive branch making a decision that the Legislative branch refused to make. The Legislative have ceded so much power to the Executive that they should be embarrassed. I wish this was front page news about political overreach. Instead it’s just, “Yeah, everyone knows Congress can’t do shit.”
This is why I’m a big Simu Liu fan.
