You should write a poem about that!

You should write a poem about that!
I can’t speak to the shooter’s motivations (though meme forensics seems pretty silly) but the “at a Right wing state with a Right wing governor” etc bits seem pretty dumb.
It’d be like saying the guy who went after Pelosi was clearly a Leftie because it was in a Leftie state, with a Left song governor, in a Left wing city against a Left wing politician. Pretty nonsense points and make us look dumb.

Back in the day, shooters etc wrote lengthy manifestos.
I think they’ve realized that these days no one is going to read a full length manifesto so it’s better to note their thoughts in…
Bullet point.
(Sorry.)

No better way to honour someone who, as much as I dislike him, consistently argued government should not restrict speech and different opinions, no matter how repugnant.

Oh I figured as much, unless you went to Bayside with Zach Morris and crew!
But I didn’t know Pogs came back in the early 00s, which is super cool to hear.

Oh wow, do you mind if I ask when pogs hit for you? I would’ve been in early grade school, so, maybe 94/95.

Last week, I had to explain what pogs were to a pair of teammates, had to stop myself from starting with “back in my day, when things were good and people didn’t spend so much time on their phones…”

Hadn’t heard ol Tom Waits in forever, that was great! Thanks!

Haven’t heard Spacious Thoughts, sounds like a fun time, I’ll blare some while working today!
Oddly, I dug ska growing up but my more recent delve into brass bands are no doubt the result of my buddy watching Treme and getting really into New Orleans brass! So, if you’re looking for more, for me that was a great jumping off point to the likes of the Dirty Dozen Brass band and the Rebirth Brass band.

Brass against is so much fun!
(Admittedly, I have a soft spot for brass acts like March Fourth n Too Many Zoos.)
Fully agree, RTJ is probably the closest in terms of RATM fire but sadly generally figure them as the least popular of the three? (Though I am ignorant as hell about what’s popular)

I listen to a lot of weird punk and am not particularly good at knowing what’s popular, but I’d guess Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino and/or Run the Jewels?

Fully agree.
Plus with how they hit current events, I’m much happier to give them longer to A) think of a good take and B) Give us more SouthPark takes on crazy shit that happens as the year goes on.

I don’t live rural and I imagine the conservative bent makes the trans femmeness that much harder.
One thing I haven’t seen here though is volunteering. Doing good with other people is a pretty way to get to know people.
In my province, our rural areas practically beg people to volunteer as firefighters (for us, rural generally means the woods) and from every chat I’ve had with someone doing that, it seems very social.
If there are any Democrat offices etc, they love volunteers.
Hope those kinda help? Good luck!

I thought LLMs were better than this.

Thanks, that really means a lot as that’s pretty much exactly how I try to live!

Oh that app sounds incredibly useful, would love to hear how that works out!
But seems like a great times!

Sounds like a pretty great weekend you’ve got lined up! Do you know what kind of movies and which boardgames?

Oh man, Invincible has been almost too much fun. What a goddamn blast that one is. Unsure if I love it or the Boys more.

Lots!
My co-ed soccer team lost a heartbreaker of a championship game, but goddamn we’ve improved and I’m excited for next season!
My softball team is wrapping up our season tonight and as we’ve all enjoyed each other we’ve started talking about what to do as a group for the offseason, so I’m excited to see how that turns out!
My friend and I have plans to work on his cabin in the fall with fewer mosquitos etc and that’s always been a blast.
The international film fest is coming to town soon and even in a down year, there’s a dozen that look pretty fun to me. Plus, a few friends I don’t see as often as I’d like (they’re busy starting families etc) usually catch a few together which is great for the soul!
Oh, and one of my film fest favourites, Deathgasm, has a sequel coming out soon and it’s great to see an absurd but wonderful indie flick do well. I am stoked to get high as balls and watch the hell out of that.
Then it’s the winter and I’ll take a lot of mornings off to ski and work the afternoon, which is an amazing combination.
Work’s paying for a few courses in the fall and winter semesters so I’m quite stoked to up my skills for free!
And finally, kind of dumb but I’ve started persona 5 royal, it’s my first JRPG in maybe a decade and it’s just been delightful so I’m pretty excited to take that journey.
Still, 15k invested now while OP is 19 could be helpful in a decade.
