She’s not gone. She’s being reassigned to the comic-book named new “Shield of the Americas” agency. Whatever the hell that is.

TBF they hopelessly outclass a lot of their opponents. 300lb super-strong trained alien fighter with thermal vision and crazy weapons hunting some dude with a rifle if you think of the OG Predator. Their victims probably didn’t even know what they were fighting. Not really that great.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What phrases/sentences instantly reveal someone as a chud?
2·21 hours agoIf I understand it right it’s basically polishing your external appearance to a high degree. Hair, skincare, etc… but I’ve seen it mostly used to describe people using the technique transactionally. Like incels doing it with the expectation that doing so will result in a girl appearing for them.

43·1 day agoThat would be the “pittance” part. This is about a hundred random songs not a single artist.
This isn’t about you.
Still tracks you when you connect to wifi.

2·1 day agoAI is going to destroy everything being some of the final nails in the coffin. Nothing is going to be trusted anymore. Anyone can make up any lie and say it’s real because they have “proof.” It’s going to amplify the worst of human greed and quest for power - whether that be on social media or politically.
Zojirushi makes decent stuff - at least the couple items I have from them have been working well for the time I’ve had them.

News@lemmy.world•Trump Reveals Why There’s No Evacuation Plan for Trapped Americans
6·2 days agoDo unto others before they do unto you even if they weren‘t going to do anything. Trump shoots his load before he even gets his pants down.
Their plan is zero effort zero cost to them or their toxic masculinity. Just think of so many republican issues that revolve around petty selfishness and caricature man revenge-plot movie tropes that the country and many of us individually have to deal with. Kill everything, talk shit, fuck the girl, and walk away. They basically want to wreck everything up in the most low-effort, domestic abuser way without having to pay any price at all. Bomb another nation and kill a bunch of kids? no consequences. Women dying because they cant get abortions? Sit down, bleach your hair, shut up and crank out babies. Not my problem. People shot by the ICE SS? Guess they shouldn‘t have been breathing. Not my problem.

memes@lemmy.world•Or the person wearing a thin jacket in -20C
5·2 days agoHigh school kids. You cannot be different. My kids refuse to wear a jacket. Hoodie, t-shirt, and sweats, jeans, or tights depending if it’s a PE day or not. Doesn’t matter if it’s snowing, 0°F or 60°. Same clothes. They all wear the same stuff.
Some bad advice here applying a “no deeper than wide” rule to beach conditions. Wet sand with shifting density won’t behave like regular earth, and a pit at the beach is going to behave differently than a trench in regular dirt. If someone said they’re going to stick you in a 6’x6’x6’ pit surrounded by unstable wet concrete and let it go with you in the middle you’d probably say this wasn’t the best safety advice.
Doesn’t work that way with wet sand that can change density with water movement.
That lego figure clip was probably the most underwhelming way to show the dangers of collapse.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a TV series that you really, really liked and would enthusiastically recommend?
3·2 days agoI liked The Peripheral. It only got better with each episode despite the changes from the book original. Of course it got canceled after the first season.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a TV series that you really, really liked and would enthusiastically recommend?
2·2 days agoI partly disagree. It’s changed so much it only follows mostly the high points of the books. IMO the first season was really weak with some awful wooden acting and choreography. The cast have very much improved as the series has progressed and Pace, Birn, and Mann are best in show. The set and CG visuals are great.

I’ll second Guster. Seen them 3 times? Good performers, good music.
