Technology@lemmy.world•Electric motorcycles with solid-state batteries seem to be coming soon.English
1·26 days agoI agree. I’m very skeptical about their claims and so far I can’t find any evidence of 3rd party verification of anything. All the “news” about their batteries is just glorified press releases.

14·27 days agoIn the context of lithium-ion batteries, “solid state” means that there’s no liquid electrolyte, rather than meaning there are no moving parts.

6·3 months agoIn most vehicles with onstar (Chevrolet mainly) you can pretty easily disconnect the cable that connects the computers to the antenna. You need to install a dummy load to keep it from turning on the check engine light but other than that it’s trivial. Once that’s done, the car will still collect data but it can’t send it anywhere. Just don’t take the car to the dealership for maintenance or they might “fix” the antenna connection for you

Funny@sh.itjust.works•Definitely what you want to find on the parents bookshelf
28·4 months agoGet them back… keep a copy of “Toxic Parents” prominently on your bookshelf.
True story: I was reading that book way back in the early 1990s and my stepdad came over for some reason. I went to put on shoes and when I came back, he had the book in his hands, looking at the cover. He dropped it like it was on fire, we traded an awkward look, then never spoke of it again.
Somehow I feel both seen and attacked.
I’ve been stung once and the actual sting hurt a little bit but after that it just itched for a couple of hours.
Normally the paper wasps around here are totally chill but this one managed to get caught inside my shirt somehow and decided it was time to go to war.

Sure, it’s not just propaganda, but there’s definitely a lot of conservative and oil industry-friendly propaganda jammed in there.
I stopped watching after they set up finicky nonbinary person as some kind of poor, misguided, slightly evil fool. They sure tore that strawman (strawperson?) down!
Fuck that shit. There may be some interesting stories in there but I’m exposed to enough fascist propaganda without willingly choosing to watch it.
