18·7 days agoif you excuse the trek reference.
I’ll always excuse a trek reference.

Since we aren’t capable of gaining absolute knowledge, we’re cursed with having to each set our personal threshold for skepticism/credulity. Setting it too low like your quiet uncle seems like it would be a confusing nightmare.
I tend to be skeptical, but I still went down a rabbit hole the other day re: aliens after indirectly reading about “sightings” in Europe in the 1600s. This one was fascinating:

79·7 days agoIn the 70s, it’s probably just a given.
Some would probably call stuff like that “woke”, but maybe “performative” or “pandering” would be slightly less politically charged.
This type of stuff is immediately what I thought of too. They will happily sell both sides’ identity and values right back to them.
Lol, I’m very curious to know why someone would buy a shirt that says “Corporate Greed”
It’s making a joke about how we relate everything to our previous experience, no matter how limited. Basically this meme:

Or, another example might be how every game gets described as “like dark souls”

16·8 days agoThe Japanese pronunciation is why they wanted to call him Puck-Man! It’s apparently from a Japanese onomatopoeia for a mouth opening and closing, “Paku Paku”

2·8 days agoWell damn, I guess they’re taking some liberties with the classification of “dinosaurs” and are still off by a bit. I’m just going to remove the post.
I mined an unknown amount back then and then left it in whatever mining wallet I had at the time because it was worthless… I also try not to think about it too much.
