If you post something to a federated platform, it is literally never deleted. There is no privacy to be gained from deleting posts from the fediverse.

Some people think that keeping a community laser focused attracts more readers through quality. It’s an ideal that I respect, but I’ve never really observed that to be true in reality.

This comment needs to be at the top. This was an intentional choice made in the first trump administration to just…stop doing the cheap thing that had been working for a generation. Now the exact expected outcome has come to fruition.

Part of this is the fault of cheap shitty flat panel TVs that only became ubiquitous after the original came out. The original media that looked great in dark scenes on CRT tvs can be completely incomprehensible on all but the best flat panels. As a result the HD remakes shy away from playing with shadow too much to avoid complaints.

They have no actual power to do that because the federal constitution prevents them, so instead they constantly cook up bullshit so they can tell voters in the next election that they’re definitely gonna fix it this time if you vote for them.
