Israel was always going to do just want they wanted to unless someone stood up to them. That was never going to be Trump, nor was it going to be Harris, let’s be real here for a second. That sweet, sweet AIPAC cash is just too hard to say no to, and, frankly, Israel is a really charged topic that candidates would prefer to avoid. I find your distinction meaningless, it’s like handing an alcoholic booze while saying “nooo, please don’t drink it, it’s bad for you” only to turn around say that you didn’t help them destroy their life because you oh so gently reminded them that booze is bad for their health as you handed it to them. This is a cigarette company defense.
They’re doing it to Trump, just on Iran, because they know Trump isn’t going to meaningfully stand up to them, while still not wanting to get the US into full blown war. They’d be doing it to Harris too, because the DNC didn’t even trust her enough to let her run her own campaign, they sure as fuck weren’t going to let her run her own presidency. We’d probably have some DNC turbodonor or AIPAC mf as SecDef.
This is the kind of shit why I say that white supremacists and Nazis love the state of Israel. Both they and Israel insist that this is what Jews are really about, at the expense of actual Jewish people just trying to live their lives.
It’s tacos and energy drinks.

331·11 months agoRemember when Israel kept yanking the football away from the Biden administration every time that Biden announced new Gaza ceasefire talks? At this point, you’d have to be a fucking fool to believe a word that slithers out of Nettanyahu’s head. Israel is working damn hard on burning as much political capital as it possibly can as fast as it can. Of course, they’re not doing it to do something cool like fighting climate change or build a moon base, it’s simply to murder as many people as they can as fast as they can.

I honestly to goodness can’t think of the last time I heard Trump drop an F bomb. I think he’s actually rather cross with them
Is this boomer shit really making the rounds again? This is so 2003.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•US question: Would you approve of your state seceding from the Union, declaring independence from the United States? I think California, Oregon, and Washington would, and probably Colorado too.
1·11 months agoThat is a problem, but not an intractable one. The first easy win would be to just stop wasting so much water. CA could be a lot more careful with water than it is by just leaning on industry and ag to cut wasteful water use harder than it leans on the suburbs. Don’t get me wrong, green lawns in our Mediterranean climate are a stupid waste too, but it pencils out to less than a percent of all water use, where ag and industry are both in the double digits.

“Wow, we’re really broke”

“Golly, this is a serious problem!”
- Cut taxes on the rich
“Nobody really knows why we’re in so much debt or how to deal with it, but it’s probably the fault of poor people. Guess we better cut taxes for the rich more lmao”

4·11 months agoDude is 79 and most of his atoms have come from big macs; every single morning is a dice roll that he didn’t die in his sleep. This fucker is never going to see justice, and all of the spineless justices and prosecutors that were shit scared to punch up will finally be able to breathe easy knowing they did absolutely nothing to protect the rule of law when they had the chance.

Well, see, for that to happen, you’d need politicians who aren’t complicit in trying to rip the wiring out of the walls. Also, regulating railroads is hella complicated in the US because we’ve got a bunch of ancient laws that give the railroads more rights than God, to the point where you almost stop being a citizen when you step onto railroad right of way. We COULD deal with that, but it’d be almost as much of an almighty fucking lobbyist shitshow as when we try to regulate oil.
Ameribro here, I can almost guarantee that your airlines are running at a loss as part of a long term EEE strategy to monopolize long distance travel. Once they’ve got the market cornered, your tickets are going to get A LOT more expensive like ours are. Oh, and they’ll start demanding subsidies from your governments to keep from going tits up because they accidentally the whole thing to their shareholders. Don’t fucking fall for it.
Some asshole Mba/lawyers figured out that if they made the trains physically too long to fit onto the pull outs, then they could just shrug and say “golly, we’d love to pull over for you, but we just can’t lmao” and it’s perfectly fine. It’s called Precision Scheduled Railroading
Where do I enlist?

I’m coping so hard by hoping that we swing very hard to the left, if only just so that these cynical, fossilized assholes live to see their bullshit rulings used against them.
