I’d be lying if I said the castles weren’t one of the biggest reasons for my interest. I spent the better part of the past year playing Kingdom Come Deliverance, and it’s broiled an interest in that part of the world’s history for sure. Your comment makes me feel like I’m making the right choice!

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•What happened in Canada is the appropriate reaction to when a dictator says he wants to take over your country.
5·8 months agoAlright but let’s not forget that the Liberals were about to get removed from the face of the map when it was projected before Christmas.
The Conservatives were never going to be a non-factor, and only 4 months ago were looking to be sleepwalking into a majority. Luckily Trudeau stepped down and we got the result we saw tonight. Thankfully the CBC will live on.

1·8 months agoI’ve known about the issue with a lack of ways to store the energy produced for about 5 years now, does it seem like we’re making any steps in it recently? Also how does it work in a “green” fashion to produce all of the batteries necessary for that sorts of energy storage, I feel like that’s going to be one of the next discussions about how “pure” this method is.
Hoping to visit your country in a year or so, any recommendations for places to see/things to eat the most? Always love getting an idea of someone’s favourite parts of their home.

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•I'm a 64-year-old Amazon employee. Retirement wasn't even on my radar, but now I have to leave due to RTO mandates.
2·8 months agoI don’t disagree on a general scale but in relation to this post it isn’t the rich forcing a lot of teams back to work. It’s people in management positions that are over valued and unable to provide an effective workspace without being over their workers shoulders. There’s always the argument the building owners who rent their spaces are the ones paying to get RTO more advertisement space, but in the end it’s the middle class doing it to itself.

News@lemmy.world•Survey finds 'return to office' demands falling as hybrid work becomes new normal
2·8 months agoWhich is twice as funny because consultants often cost more in the short term. It’s mostly to avoid those pesky things like “benefits” or “pension plans” that employers need to take care of for their own employees.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia•‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Season 17 to Premiere in July With New ‘Abbott Elementary’ CrossoverEnglish
1·8 months agoI’m always going to watch always sunny, but can someone tell me if it would be worth watching the Abbott Elementary episode with them, and if so which one is it? I couldn’t get into AE in my last watch attempt outside of feeling like it was fine background television.

Games@lemmy.world•HELP! Im looking for a game like CIV 6 where the point is to go to warEnglish
3·8 months agoAgreed with this. Started in the CIV world with 5, then a buddy introduced me to Rome:Total War and it was like finding crack. I still like to take over all of Europe at some point once a year.
Just a heads up OP, the games are limited to regions of the world, it’s never the full globe.

61·8 months agoHoly shit between this and the Governor hot wheels comment recently she’s just showing that she might be just as much a liability as she will be a newfound asset lately. The passion is great, but it feels like there’s not as much of a filter on what she’s putting out there in some heated moments. Not like I’m perfect, I’d probably pull some similar petty shit after enough speeches but that’s why I’m not in government.

15·8 months agoCounterpoint, but CREATING content like this is 90% of the reason, and these people should be remembered in history as the cockroaches they are. I can at least understand people who get mad at bait.

Global News@lemmy.zip•German experiment gave people a basic monthly income – the effect on their work ethic was surprising
27·8 months agoYup, Ontario had it for a small community and the people on it were doing great. They’re still just running these programs in other areas to try and find the one with negative results so every country can point to that as their reason to not do it longterm.
That’s why you keep seeing 100 of these “trials”.
“Analog horror” is such a hilarious phrase.

Yeah I saw this and all I could think was “Mad! The guy is going to be mad about all of the stupid while also knowing he can’t use his fists to make it (actually) better”. A constant cycle of never having all of the solutions or a way to feel better.
Cut, personally. Usually the guitar string ends get in the way when you don’t cut them, so definitely cut to me.
Almost like we all see different parts of the internet so we don’t even know what everyone is looking at and feeling about what they’re seeing.
what’s the point in even thinking about it?
To share my feelings with people on here? If you don’t feel what I’m feeling then good for you, I’m happy you enjoyed your day.
Every April fools joke I encountered this year seemed to make me mad. Maybe I just feel now isn’t a time to be joking, even though unfortunately it’s likely the most important time for a laugh.
Problem is all the people making the jokes have a shit sense of humour.
