  • As a result of Food Lion threatening Walmart’s price gap, Pepsi created a plan to nudge Food Lion’s retail prices on Pepsi products upward by reducing promotional payments and allowances to Food Lion and raising other costs for Food Lion. The plan advised that Pepsi “must commit to raising rate [on Food Lion] faster than market by minimum annually.”…

The idea of the single price store, where a price is transparent and is the same for everyone, was created by department store magnate John Wanamaker in the post-Civil War era. Before founding his department store, Wanamaker was the first leader of the YMCA. He also created a Philadelphia mega-church. His single price strategy was part of an evangelical movement to morally purify America, the “Golden rule” applied to business. The price tag was political, an explicitly democratic attempt to treat everyone equally by eliminating the haggling and extractive approach of merchants.

a land of contrasts with modern evangelicals

  • they should make free electron lasers (i have asked around, seems synchrotron are not bright enough, but lasers have a couple of start ups and stuff doing feasibility studies already) and or do funny stuff with electrons, but those are even more baby-tech level.

it’s impressive if they can scale it, duv requires more and more patterning steps to overcome resolution limits, and fuck up on each one brings pain. (there were some claims when euv was arriving that it was a step like from 30 patterns to 3-5 at same resolution)

  • if you think there is a noticeable increase in surveillance from this, you are not pilled enough on advertising fencing/wifi/bl/cell tower logging, at most this is an extra tool for the toolbox. if adult people think logging to youtube is worth using their real picture to 3rd party kyc provider, they aren’t exactly surveillance conscious now are they.

Surveillance happens inside the app, not from internet routing, your isp and main provider (unless nsa is involved) at most can connect time of activity of account to your sessions/send packets and they have to bother to do it, social media knows this in plain metadata and more than willing to supply it.

i do think requiring hardlock on sold phones in a country for kiddie (with white listed internet or time restricted internet aside from like messaging) and non-kiddie mode is more elegant solution than dipshittery with verification cans
