3·1 month agoBut it doesn’t help that I live in a conservative area that doesn’t have many intellectual or techy people. I will probably end up driving to a big city for a once or twice a month meeting.
Soon I will have to be doing the same. It’s a little over an hour drive one way. Do you have any recommendations about how to find an interest group?

Yes, of course they are!
I agree. I grew up using hard copy encyclopedias at libraries. It is incredible now to have all of this at our fingertips at home.
Can you give an example of an article with an error that you tried to correct?
This was 6 years ago so I cannot recall precisely which pages. However, I just skimmed over about 15 pages that I thought would be riddled with errors. To my surprise, I only found one instance where there was a ‘citation needed’ mark and could find no major errors…maybe a few little splitting hairs examples but nothing serious.
So, it appears that improvements have been made over the past 6 years. On the other hand, I only looked over roughly 15 pages.
Probably the same caution would be true for any encyclopedia. Namely, these can be pretty good starting points but not for serious scholarly research.
My self and others in this field tried for about 6 months to no avail. We gave up…they didn’t want to hear it.
I have studied academic biblical scholarship for over 30 years. All of Wikipedia’s biblical pages are riddled with errors. IMO, Wikipedia is a decent starting point but that would be it.

3·3 months agoRight. Thankfully there is a global plastic pollution treaty in the works and organizations, such as The Ocean Cleanup, that are working to rid the oceans of plastics.

Environment@beehaw.org•How much progress have we made on climate change?
3·3 months agoMost of the western world is bombarded by the news media bias and fear-mongering that gets more clicks, eyes and sells more papers. Rarely are we exposed to raw data/facts which Simon Clark’s videos are based on (i.e. scientific journals, academia, etc.). In summary, the world has made a lot of progress toward mitigating climate change.

I agree that you may be having this personal experience. On the other hand, I am not and have been using iOS for many years. The difference could be that I intentionally stay very informed about iOS.
I, personally, will not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
However, if you believe that you will have better experiences using Android, then please make the switch.
Back in 2007 (After many years of making a career out of using Microsoft/Windows products) I started using Linux and MacOS/iOS exclusively and have never looked back.
I have very little experience and/or knowledge of Android. So, I can’t comment on that.
