Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Its ironic that the most effective means to fight AI slop may be to use it. Could you use AI slop to FIGHT AI slop?
6·23 hours agoHello, thanks for posting to shower thoughts. Rule 2 is that the title should be a complete thought. The idea is that, shower thoughts are simple so someone shouldn’t need to click on a post to know the thought.
Mind updating the title?

Just Post@lemmy.world•Google maps is drunk. I'm at the blue dot & wanted to see how long it would take to walk to the red flag and this is the route it suggested.
3·10 days agoHa, it actually says that? Yeah having a dumb pop-up is pretty heavy handed. If there was a train as an alternative then I get it. The app seems to be under heavy development. When I first saw it it didn’t have much outside of France, now it covers much of Europe… maybe you are outside of what is covered well.
Thats a little disingenuous that it only shows the CO2 impact of the cars.
https://ourworldindata.org/travel-carbon-footprint The above data doesnt consider manufacturing or infrastructure polution for the given mode of transport.

What did it do to judge you? Does it give a sad emoji or something?

It excels at route planning but then it encourages you to use comaps for the actual navigation. Because its offline… its a beautiful opensource ecosystem

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•Energy efficiency of various transport modesEnglish
1·23 days agoI didn’t expect that a train would be more efficient than biking. I guess the efficiencies of scale are hard to beat, but still.
I’m tempted to think the minimal biking infrastructure would help bikes, but infrastructure amortises nicely so probably not.

Yeah caffeine has been around a long time. I’m sure these simple solutions won’t last much longer. They will us AI to monitor the actions are meaningful so people will use AI to make the actions look meaningful and so on…

This is sick! Thanks for sharing your project with us! I would have never guessed you could do voice over TOR but PTT was a clever solution. Its like the old nextel phones that had PTT. I wonder if its possible to remap the volume button to be a hardware PTT button.
