Trying to pass laws to defend protesters’ rights is a lonely battle on Capitol Hill.

Omar got how many? The other guy got 75?

Yeah. I’m not voting blue until they earn it.

Yep, letting Republicans take over will certainly help. I should know as someone from a state whose entire Federal representation is republican. We get some of the most egregious and stupid punishing bills imaginable past. And it’s really helped us I’m sure somehow.

However I can’t help but think that maybe voting is the minimum we should do. And that we should vote conscientiously and strategically to keep Republicans from elected office even if that means voting for a Democrat. But more importantly we should primary all Democrats and all republicans. Not just vote for who the inadequate ones in charge think is good. Vote blue to keep the Republicans out if we have to. But primary them all.

They’re not wrong. But we have to focus on step two of that equation which is primary everyone and not to let the people who carelessly support this keep their safe offices

And? David’s gonna focus on step two still. Now the leadership had clearly marked themselves as a core part of the problem is all.

And the party will continue to fix nothing and delightedly announce that we have no choice but to vote for them.

Watch how they treat elon in the coming months. It’ll be better than they have ever treated any progressive.

You didn’t think one person could easily make the changes needed did you? Of course it’s going to be a fight. Look at the amount of money and number of people that profit off the current broken system. Losing a battle doesn’t mean you’ve lost the war. You can’t give up so easily.

That is why I said “the party”.

Of course it’s going to be a fight

There is? I’ll remind you democrats are involved.

Correct, right now this should be our focus. Let’s get candidates that people actually want to vote for. Get those boomers out at a minimum.

I’m sure you didn’t vote blue in the last election or the one before that.

      So what’s really changing?

The Nazis have been taking over since Nixon, and voting blue did nothing but move us further right, although it accelerated with Reagan and Clinton. I’m old enough to have witnessed this slomo train wreck, maybe you aren’t. Socially left and economically right ain’t left.

        • It moved us right slower than if Republicans had been in charge the whole time. Americans don’t have the class consciousness to spontaneously vote left. Leftist third parties hold very few offices at all, and zero major ones.

Without a shift in cultural hegemony, and a flood of leftists in local offices to make good candidates for higher office, third party votes are a waste. They’re not electorally successful, they’re not even good marketing.

Voting blue slows the rightward slide. It can’t save us, it’s not supposed to save us. It’s supposed to give us enough time to save ourselves, to do the ground work to shift the culture to embrace the left when a party is ready. The culture has not shifted, the party is not ready. The least we can do is strategically keep out the politicians who most fervently legislate against worker rights.
