Doesn’t really matter, Tesla doesn’t make money from selling cars. They make money from selling EV carbon credits to other car manufacturers. Plus collecting government subsidies.

Musk’s new plan seems to be just draining the treasury into his overseas bank accounts.

Ok but what happens when the for realsies auto companies start churning out cheaper, better EVs?

Those credits plummet in value because Tesla isn’t the only company with the money printer.

They get tariff’d to the stratosphere if they’re not owned by American oligarchs, and the prices are kept high even if production costs are low to protect high profit margins if they are owned by American oligarchs.

Who do you think is buying the carbon credits? ICE manufacturers.

They do so to be in compliance with offset programs in states like CA without actually changing what cars they make. Because that’s cheaper.

Some of my coworkers and I did the math and they’re still cheaper than pretty much every US EV we could buy even with the 100% tariff.

In the holy free market there would be no competition. But if this makes people buy too many Chinese EVs I imagine tariffs will just go up. The same tired old response by western capital. It’s hilarious because capital slowly took apart the nation state and thereby totally crippled the national system. The same system they used to benefit from the public funding of. The pipeline was public funding for research that was then passed off at a fraction of the cost to the “innovators” and privatized. And they broke the system themselves. Truly the greatest minds of our generation.

coupled with that and knowing the west’s ultimate allegiance, maybe it’s not such a bad idea for musk to lead the way…

I think you would have to pay the 100% tariff if you crossed the border with it. Also dont even know if theyre street certified/legal in the US/

TV2 just posted an article about a Tesla owner who (according to herself) had her car’s windshield cracked and was given a fake ticket — apparently a lot of Tesla owners are being given these fake tickets, but not many (if any) experience actual damage to their cars. Nevertheless TV2 presenting these drivers sympathetically as victims of a “witch-hunt” (hets) makes me want to play the world’s smallest violin.

    The ticket reads,

    Akershus County Municipality

    Sanction

Violation of ethical consumption duties: Use of a car produced by Tesla, which is owned by Hitler sympathizer Elon Musk.

    Boycott Tesla!

    DON’T SUPPORT NAZIS!

Edit: Clarifying that the cracking actually being related to the ticket is questionable.

Nah a person didn’t make that crack

It would be bigger and spiderwebbed

Also auto glass is really hard to crack without special tools and anyone who does have a special tool would have shattered it completely. Like you have to hit it 3-4 times hard in the same place with a big ass rock just to crack it

He’s still rich and will be insulated from any consequences of his actions.

One thing about Musk I’ve noticed is that he is a risk taker. I don’t want to sound like I’m praising him, but it’s just an objective fact. Whenever he makes a decision to do something he throws everything at it. Those decisions are really stupid most of the time, and if a person of average wealth ever tried to do them they would just fail outright, but Musk is able to get away with it through some luck but also just the capitalist system working in his favor. When he jumped on board the Trump train, I had a feeling Trump was going to win because of how Musk risks everything to get what he wants.

I think alot of liberals and maybe some leftists are hoping that he’ll get “caught on a technicality” but hes probably never going to lose his wealth or diminish in influence unless acted on externally. The rules and laws of capitalist society are the ones that prop him up. That’s what I think of when I see these headlines that make it seem like the walls are closing in on him because Tesla sales are down, or he did a nazi salute, or called someone a pedo etc.

Alternatively he could Steve Jobs himself, but that is relying on pure chance.

The Market just does this. It is the Economy. It cannot be comprehended by the human mind.
