I looked into this yesterday, it seems we haven’t declared war since WW2, and stuff like this is usually done with AUMF (Authorizations for Use of Military Force). Those can be issued after the fact. I think the president can basically do whatever for 60 days if I understand correctly.
Isn’t this an impeachable offense? Like, declaring war and mobilizing troops is not something you can unilaterally do as president. That’s Congress’s job. Well, I guess we’ll see what happens. Congress has so far let Trump do whatever he wants, and so has the supreme court. So, 🤷♀️

And they never declare war. We have conflicts and situations but never war- too much paperwork.

Special military operation
This is the part where past decisions come to bite us all in the ass. There is an “exception” congress gave to the president which allows them to do some military operations bullshit IF there is imminent threat AND they give congress a written notice to both the speaker of the house and the president of the senate. They have 60 days, or whatever arbitrary time line they decide upon, to finish up what they are doing unless congress says they can stay longer. We all know Orange Chicken Little is a pro at making up “imminent threats”.
Also the 2001 Authorization of The Use of Military Force, which has no expiry date, and allows unrestricted military action against anyone the administration believes played a role in the 9/11 attacks. As far as I’m aware all Trump has to do is claim Iran produced or sheltered terrorists at some point (even if it was in the past) and he’s more or less legally in the clear. There’s already precedent.
Under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, the 2001 AUMF was used to justify the deployment of US forces to Afghanistan, the Philippines, Georgia, Yemen, Djibouti, Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Iraq, and Somalia.

I don’t know the specifics but the president can move troops without congressional approval as long as they’re there less than 90 days or something but that can be extended.
Congress hasn’t declared war on anyone since WW2.
Impeachment is purely political. Anything is an impeachable act.
And any military personnel who carry this out without congressional approval should be imprisoned and executed for treason. 🤷♂️ rules.
The military is America’s workforce program. Those kids just needed a job and healthcare. They’re too young, inexperienced in life, and desperate. They shouldn’t be executed. On the other hand, the higher command, those whom the administration put in command for their loyalty, should be held accountable. I’m also a firm believer that those in charge of others should be punished equally for the actions of those under their command. That includes the commander in chief of the armed forces.
I understand what you’re saying, and I empathize with the people “just doing their jobs,” but… where have I heard that one before? (It’s Nazis.)
