Been having fun testing it out. MelonDS plays well with older hardware with the JIT complier option selected in software mode. I download Phantom Hourglass today and it’s so charming. I love how you can draw on the map and it’s super casual playing with the stylus.
I’m also enjoying Animal Crossing and popping into people’s towns online and mucking around. Some other villages have given me some goodies like a golden shovel
Sonic Rush is pretty friggin sweet too. What a neat little handheld.
Yea it pretty fun, check out LoZ Spirit Tracts when you are done with Phantom Hourglass its really fun too
Kirby Squeak Squad and Super Star Ultra are so fun. The Yugioh games on there are pretty good too, though the AI can sometimes take a long time to take actions in their turns.
The ace attorney games are apparently really good on DS, but i never played them
seconding spirit tracks and phantom hourglass
Advance Wars was fun
oh Dragon Quest X or so, I must have played 200 hours of that back in the day
Pokemon heart gold and soul silver were good too
I must have played other things I enjoyed as well but I can’t think of anything else
Best part of the DS back in the day was having multiplayer where only the host had to own the game. Metroid Prime Hunters, Mario Kart, and Diddy Kong Racing were tons of fun, even if they had some limitations. I remember in particular the “make your own map” mode in DKR where we would compete to just draw the most ridiculously overlong map possible.
I love how you can draw on the map and it’s super casual playing with the stylus.
I truly do not understand how this basically never happened again. You can do like streamlined object placements for consoles or whatever but this is such a fucking sick feature, I’d love to annotate my own maps in like every game
Yeah I didn’t think I was going to like it with the mouse, but it feels super comfortable playing with the mouse as the stylus and wasd as the directions and ijkl a yxba,
Most of the Castlevania DS games are really good.
