Thirty-four members of the British Parliament —members of Parliament and representatives of the House of Lords—signed a joint declaration denouncing the United States’ military plans against Venezuela . The document, titled “Emergency Declaration: No to Trump’s War on Venezuela,” demands that Washington refrain from any attack against the South American nation following the launch of Operation Southern Spear and a massive naval deployment in the Caribbean.
Among the signatories are prominent British political figures such as Jeremy Corbyn , former leader of the Labour Party ; Diane Abbott , former Shadow Home Secretary; and John McDonnell , former Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer. Their support underscores the gravity of the situation and the urgency of the call to avoid military intervention , which, they warn, could trigger a regional escalation with unpredictable consequences.
The statement—promoted by the Venezuela Solidarity Campaign and endorsed by key unions such as the NEU, TSSA, BFAWU, and GFTU, as well as peace organizations like the CND and Stop the War Coalition —expresses “deep alarm” at the growing threat of a war led by the Trump administration . The text has garnered widespread support among labor, peace, and progressive movements in the UK.
Parliamentarians denounce the deployment of a US naval fleet off the Venezuelan coast , including warships, bombers, and thousands of troops. They also recall that Trump publicly confirmed authorizing the CIA to conduct covert operations in Venezuela , which have already claimed the lives of dozens of civilians in attacks on small boats, under the pretext of a " war on drugs ."
This military escalation is part of a long history of US interference in Latin America through " regime change " operations . The statement emphasizes that several Latin American leaders have already expressed strong opposition to this military buildup and to any form of foreign intervention.
The United States maintains its largest military deployment in the Caribbean in recent years, concentrating 20% of its global naval power in the region. Last week, the aircraft carrier Gerald Ford , the largest and most modern in the world, equipped with state-of-the-art F-35 fighter jets , joined the operation . The entire fleet participated in recent exercises near Trinidad and Tobago .
Washington justifies this presence under the pretext of combating drug trafficking in what is called Operation Southern Spear. However, the scale of the deployment and the White House’s public statements suggest objectives that go far beyond the official narrative. This Monday, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff traveled to the area to meet with the operation’s commanders.
What began as an anti-narcotics operation has transformed into an unprecedented show of force that threatens the stability of the entire region.
it never began as an anti-narcotics operation though. it was an attempt to goad Maduro into retaliating. It also served to intimidate Maduro and make him look weak.
Yep, it is just as you said. To put in a drawing, it will be like this but for Venezuela:

Why isn’t UK towing the line?
The US would inevitably request NATO assistance. Assistance the British military is unable to supply and the British public is unwilling to support.
British intervention would be politcal suicide in a nation already on the brink of economic and military collapse.
They also have their possessions in the Caribbean to worry about. The dutch & french as well. There has been some trouble and protests there.
*economic decline
The Brits are already unable to supply Ukraine in their current state. Opening another front in the imperialist world war will simply overstretch their capabilities.
Well then as they say in English mashallah
Honestly, I don’t know why the UK is not following along with the US adventurist idea of invading Venezuela.
There were some discussions here in Lemmygrad about this -> https://lemmygrad.ml/post/9741365
Even the brits are realizing that their whole narrative on Russia is going to unravel once the US invades Venezuela. Israel already did an incredible amount of damage, but an open invasion of sovereign country is going to completely undo any moral arguments the west still clings to.
