    It’s a terrible catch-22 for trans people. Either you use the restroom that conforms to your apparent gender and risk being charged with a crime, or you use the restroom that conforms to your birth gender and risk being harassed or assaulted by others. Honestly, these laws are just an attempt to punish trans people for existing in a public space.

      They certainly aren’t laws that solve any problem, so we have to assume it’s control, harassment, or punishment. Or all of the above.

      If they really cared they simply would change the code to one person per private space, by that a full washroom, or a private stall.

      The bathrooms in my kids school have private locking stalls floor to cieling and a common washroom area that is fully open to the hallway. All the kids feel safe and comfortable. Adults do to. The common space is safe, the private space is safe.

      But these people in Kansas aren’t interested in making anyone safe or comfortable. Or even make an effort to do something worthwhile.

      They want to make people miserable.
