What makes YouTubers uniquely unqualified to produce studio films?
Not trying to antagonize, just genuinely curious. It seems to me that most YouTubers already have a lot of the experience you would look for in a producer in terms of budgeting, scheduling, and developing.
I would say the vast majority don’t have that skillset, and that is way the stigma exists. Most youtubers are barely functioning, and often benefit from it by ascending to lolcow status. See every controversy ever.
This guy probably does have that skillset though, he’s been around forever and I don’t recall any controversy he’s been a part of. Couldn’t tell you what kind of movie he would make, I thought he only played video games.
I mean, Iron Lung was pretty good. As loathe as I am to consume anything from a Youtuber, the big movie studios have been pretty damn boring lately, so I guess it’s worth giving them a shot at making movies. I think I’d prefer a unique IP to video game movies though
