Subnautica 2 has launched to huge numbers, and that is very bad news for Krafton. After trying to delay the game and dodge a massive earnout, Krafton now faces the exact problem its own court filings warned about: the better Subnautica 2 does, the more it may have to pay.
So basically Krafton signed a deal that will be very profitable in the long runz but think in hindsight they could have gotten a better deal so they tried to fuck over the devs. So they don’t really lose, they just don’t get as much money as their greedy asses wanted (which is infinite money if we’re being honest).
The game also mysteriously leaked days before launch. I’m sure Krafton did it to try and make sure that sales stayed in the valuable range of their deal.
Yeah that’s definitely what happened. If the devs could prove it they’d probably sue
