The NBCUniversal streamer has canceled its espionage drama Ponies after a single season. The news comes about five months after the series premiered as a binge release on Jan. 15.
Set in Moscow in 1977, the series stars Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson as Bea and Twila, secretaries who work at the U.S. embassy — “ponies,” or persons of no importance to intelligence operatives. When their husbands are killed under mysterious circumstances in the Soviet Union, however, they become CIA operatives in an effort to solve the mystery, uncovering a conspiracy in the process.
Good - as a Russian (born in the end of the UUSR era) it was painful to watch, because even with a shitton of Russians everywhere, nobody is using them as consultants. Ok, “the average viewer doesn’t care if anything feels authentic”, but at least in this case, I guess not a lot of people was watching it for any reason
