And Xillenials too.
Preach.
I mean, FFS, I started questioning that propaganda BS when I was < 10yrs old. This is agit-prop, simple as. 🙄😝
I’m never going to own a house. My retirement plan is either squatting in the woods with a hydroponic farm or going to prison
Personally I don’t plan on making it to retirement. Tho I’d love to join you on a hydro/aquaponic farm if you find one.
The best ones are the ones you make along the way to cultivating a decent, mindful, and well-baked community, IMHO. Y’all LMK if you’re making that happen on the Upper Left Coast. 🙋🏼♂️
Billionaires bitching about the declining birth rates when they’re the reason.
In before guillotines’re found to be aphrodisiacal for said plebs. 🤷🏼♂️
Anybody who complains about birth rates and isn’t a proponent for kinder and more open immigration rules is a fascist, by definition.
There is no other mental construction that leads to that mindset.
I’m 47. They’re not achievable. Don’t have them and you can win in your own, discovered later, way.
Meh, 38 here. Just had my first kid. It’s possible if you work hard. My wife and I are saving up money in the USA and planning to raise the kid somewhere in Europe. It just makes sense. If you don’t go to college and work the grind through your 20s and 30s expect to be left in the dust
There’s an amount of fortune on top of working hard. Depending on where someone lives, markets are different and the ceiling for pay may not exist to both have a child and save money. In those cases, the cost to move to a better location may be prohibitively expensive.
Hard work does go a long way and can be enough to overcome some of those roadblocks, but some people and demographics are at a distinct disadvantage for financial success. Further, if someone is raised in poverty and by the time they hit adulthood, they may not possess the skills or even know of the skills they need to break through the glass ceiling.
I’m 37 and my wife and I have successful careers and are better off than the vast majority of Americans. Part of that is my wife graduated and got a decent job right out of school. It took me longer, and part of my recent success is because one of my best friends got my foot in the door at my current company, which pushed my career forward quite a bit. We were also able to buy our first house about 15 years ago for around $80k. It wasn’t the biggest or best house, but it allowed us to stop paying twice as much in rent while also building equity. We rolled that into our next house making it more affordable. We then bought our recent house at the perfect time where we sold our last one for about 30k more than we bought it, bought our new house before the the value jumped 50%, and our interest rate is sub 4%.
We’ve worked for everything we got, but we definitely got lucky along the way as well.
I am an immigrant. Had learn English in city of Chicago schools. I quickly realized a lot of American kids had no interest in studying. My mother and father didn’t speak English, no education but were lucky to work in steady jobs. It was not easy, we were poor and my father drank from the stress. My point is I was able to get a scholarship based on my ATC scores, Go to college, move all over the country for different jobs. Sacrificing all of my twenties, and it was depressing. But now I have stability and I think American kids don’t understand how hard that is and they don’t even want to try. I don’t want to raise my kids in the USA because the kids here are just lazy and entitled and the whole culture is whack. And That’s just from my perspective moving here and growing up here. But my siblings all had kids when they were younger and their kids are in their teens/20s now and struggling. But they refuse to actually take any risk. They could actually study higher education in Europe for lower cost but they want to be with their parents at all times. Absolute cowards
Having a kid is a trap and falling in love with someone that is “addicted to things” is a trap. Learn to live without and be more free
Millennial here - join the club
I think the part that makes me feel so disconnected from society is even if there was a huge awakening of awareness about the hollowness we feel, it already has persisted most of my life as a millenial and that distance, dissonance, unreality, and disposition doesn’t go away easily even if the underlying problem that caused it one day does.
Time lost is time lost, life lost is life lost and the manifestation of that extraction through the mechanisms of modern life is a loss of detail, a loss of vibrance, a loss of dreams…
The saddest part for me is I don’t think I will ever have the realistic option to have kids, by the time I stabilize my life and get the necessary foundations I will most certainly be too old to have kids. I don’t know if I want kids, I don’t think I do, but I don’t even feel like I even had the choice, even if I had made all the best choices possible with the options I had.
Surely the reason we are all depressed is just social media and digital screens though!
What a funny way of spelling “greedy fucks hoarding everything”…
What a waste of experts
You know what will help that? Not also being absolute fascists.
