US President Donald Trump’s own party has begun turning against his war on Iran, with Republican approval of his handling of the war plunging from 73 percent in March to 60 percent in September, according to a CNN/SSRS poll released on 22 September.
Among Republicans under 45 and those outside the MAGA movement, a majority now disapprove.
In total, three-quarters of US citizens say the war on Iran has not been worth its human or financial cost.
After nearly seven months into the war, 78 percent told CNN pollster SSRS that Trump is doing too little to end it, while almost two in three reject the idea that the US is winning.

I recently saw an ad at the (European) cinema telling Americans they can vote from abroad. (You really can’t escape American politics, it wasn’t even an American film.)
So what’s actually the status of mail in voting?
It’s managed state by state. Some states have absolutely no mail-in voting, some states require you to declare a reason you can’t go in-person (e.g., travel), and others will send you a ballot with no-questions-asked.

it’s one of the legacies of the formation of the state. the civil war eroded a lot of them but states determining how elections are run survived it.
Mail-in voting is technically legal, but Republicans have been working hard to gut it and to go as far as to destroy the mail system itself. One of the few things we have left in America. In some places, it’s almost impossible to mail in vote unless you prove that it’s the only way you can vote to the government. So it’s on par with getting disability aid. Which requires a bunch of shit, and they still normally decline cause one guy will look you up and down and go, “you seem okay to me”.

there were a bunch of 2024 votes where they voted for trump and nothing at all down-ballot. it’ll be a regression to pre-trump voting rates, minus the dead boomers and plus some andrew tate fans.
