JVP have the privilege of being able to organise against the genocide without being criminalised. This gives them a huge power advantage over Palestinian organisers and JVP seem to not adequately address this power dynamic. Addressing the power dynamic also includes being aware that they get more donations than Palestinian organisers for their privilege and thus have an obligation to give back to the Palestinian community.
Brave of them

Yeah the misinformation has a huge impact because it makes other students more hesitant to join. In the US the movement might have become weaker but in my country it hasn’t and universities are slowly capitulating. From what I gather in most EU countries the movement is still going strong or growing.
This is such a minor point but I don’t think the student encampments were misled because the students know the reviews are a farce. I think the student movement is still ongoing, but in the US it has slowed down due to violent repression and expulsion of participating students.
Can someone explain the concept of ‘breadtube’? Why is it called that and who are the main participants? Is it an actual community or several? Are they libs or leftist?
How big is this result? I can imagine that it was a huge bottom up fight from the workers and I wonder about the implications since it’s the largest US union.
The purpose of a system is what it does
excluding all the empty seats from the Dem representatives who died and haven’t been replaced.
This is a crazy sentence
Teletekst is still really popular in The Netherlands but people mostly use the app on their phone. It’s the 4th popular news app in The Netherlands. I suspect it’s because the format forces every news item to be very short.
Estimation is now 150 000. But this is a very lib protest. At the previous red line protest there were stories of a hijabi woman being bullied for saying from the river to the sea, lots of people going to starbucks after the protest, signs that normalise *srael etc
Any foreign news about US ‘enemies’ in The Netherlands almost always seems directly translated from NY Times and CNN
State media in The Netherlands is reporting extensively on casualties in Israel and about Iranian casualties they just write: Iranian state media is not reporting the amount of casualties in Iran
And then they write how Israel is only targeting military facilities.
Is there a place where I can see actual updates on Iranian casualties?
Around these times I really have to avoid mainstream western media outlets because the manufacturing consent machine is fully powered up and it makes me so furious. They are responsible for every person killed by western imperialism and deserve a tribunal.
Austria is basically the America of Europe
She’s actually really good at anger management. She directs her anger precisely to those to blame in a productive way and she directs all media attention to the issue at hand.
Humans can already do this by themselves, we’re just learned from a young age to ignore those signs.
Hexbear loves to hate on Eurovision but I used to love watching it for the spectacle and the incredible staging. It’s cool to see what a small artists would do if they suddenly had almost limitless resources for their staging. Of course there’s a lot of professional teams working on it as well and not all artists have the creative freedom to make those decisions but the ones that do are why I used to watch it.
When I learned that probably the biggest reason why it still exists and why it’s so well funded is because it’s a very effective campaign to normalise Israel I had to stop watching. The special treatment Israel now gets at Eurovision (they get to have armed guards that harass all other performers and even got one banned from playing last year) really shows how important Israel and Eurovision are for each other.
This year they even banned all flags including gay pride flags because they needed an excuse to ban Palestinian flags.
The pretences keep the people satisfied. All over Europe there are daily protests and activists who engage in direct action. It’s been really difficult for the media to keep demonising these protesters and activists because more people are starting to look through the bs. Police forces are in crisis because suppressing the protests is really hard work. Also labour unions are slowly starting to get involved and demand an end to support of Israel.
Fully openly backing Israel would put fuel to the fire and accelerate these movements. Governments are walking tight rope between backing Israel and preventing mass riots and strikes at public sectors.
