Pretty standard behaviour for a collapsing empire tbh. They demand tribute from other nations in order to prove to all that they are still on top.
It’s the same with traditional artists as well. A lot of art in galleries made by “big name artists” is incredibly vapid and empty, and only appeals to equally vapid and empty people, they feature such concepts like “Too much social media bad” or “War bad” no nuance, understanding or subtlety, just simple, basic, easy to digest, unchallenging slop. The execution is usually good, because they are usually quite skilled in the technical part of art, but the actual “meaning” and “empathy” parts are just atrophied. But big fancy art gallery pieces are made to appeal to the ultra rich who purchase them as tax write-offs, so it would make sense that it would need to be the same sort of vapid shit as above.
Maybe God is punishing them for their sinful NWS cuts?
People who will make something like this have lived privlidged and coddled lives, they’ve never seriously been challenged or struggled with poverty. They’ve lived in a nice safe little bubble. And you can’t make great art if you don’t properly understand the human experience. Not saying that you need to have struggled to make art, but when your existence, you life, has been easier than 99% of humanity, you aren’t going to be able to properly connect on a human level to that rest of humanity.
I think the real graph would probably show the republican support going all over the place depending on what Trump has said in the last 20 minutes, and the democrat one would be extremely high percentage of “yes” except during the moment Trump actually did it, then it would briefly drop to 0 because Trump was in charge when it happened.
Cute kitty! Big Stre-oh no.
One thing I think about a lot is the idea that if stuff like phones, selfies and social media existed back during WW2, we’d see literally all the exact same excuses people give for Israel today to the Nazis. We’d have this same shit, with people taking selfies outside of the death camps (like Israeli soldiers do in Palestine, or these POS above). It would be identical to the social media of today.
Laos will never work, most Americans think that it is a fictional place from King of the Hill.
It’s probably just a rash or something, run it under some cold water.
This article is talking about humans using fire to manipulate their environment, rather than just using it to cook or keep warm. That has been going on far longer than Homo Sapiens have existed, but using fire for controlled burns was thought to be much more recent than this study suggests.
Yeah, this is just standard lib
“You were disobedient so I had no choice but to abuse you.”
Seems pretty disrespectful to the bacteria who make the proteins though.
You see a car driving along and there’s a little plop every few seconds when a new chicken nuggie falls out of the exhaust pipe.
Yeah, at some point (which might have already happened) it’ll cascade out in ways we couldn’t really predict. I don’t think anything humans could do would be as bad as the Permian-Triassic extinction event though, that was a uniquely one of a kind awful situation for life on earth. If things get bad enough that we destroy ourselves (or even just industrial civilisation) the biosphere will manage to recover, though obviously it would be better to, you know, not needlessly cause the extinction of millions of species of life on this planet.
Well, they aren’t exactly “new” fossils, now are they?
But it is good to see clearer evidence of this, this has been the main hypothesis for a while (it also explains why insects died out much more during this extinction even than others, because there was much less vegetation for them to live in/on), though it was probably some other factors as well, there’s rarely ever a simple singular cause and effect when it comes to major changes to the biosphere (at least when it comes to natural extinction events)
The amount of money stolen was a huge amount for a small group of people, but an absurdly minuscule amount for a country, so I think that helps clear up who is lying here.
Nono, Luthor instutes a special Third way that isn’t capitalism or communism, and it magically makes everything a million billion times better than either system, thus proving that we shouldn’t do a communism because it will cause humanity to stagnate with silly things like “healthcare and housing for all” instead we need a system that lets the very best people rise to the top and then one day just decide to fix everything forever. It looking like a planned economy and having a true meritocracy with the best and brightest representatives in charge is because communism is bad and doesn’t try to do that.
Still mad about that ending tbh, and Luthor’s character in general in it, he’s stupidly overpowered and pretty much just the author’s Mary Sue character who magically fixes everything and stops those evil commies because he’s So Smart.
I’d much rather see a version of it where the author actually knew anything about the USSR and socialism and communism, and what sort of underhanded fucked up shit the US gets up to. A communist superman being raised to see the best in humanity vs a Lex Luthor who will do everything in his power as a rich capitalist to exploit that, actively using Superman’s empathy as a weapon against him, that sounds a lot better than the story we got. Still one of the better superman stories though.
