Thanks for the explanation. Is a second space a space you’re obligated to be, like work/school, or just anywhere you spend most of your time regardless?

I would argue that similar tech in our lives causes similar issues. We don’t write things down anymore - just scroll on, with a fragmented mish-mash memory of what we’ve seen. Some capacity for retention gets exhausted in a given day. Just what I’ve observed in myself or among friends/family.

I haven’t listened yet but I’m subscribed, so I will. Just to say that this guy is great. Gary Stephen’s.

I associate the movie so much with the visuals and score, I can’t imagine how it would have been originally written. A good reason to check out the book.

The tech industry at large is fascist, I would say https://fed.brid.gy/r/https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:waplkqr2wuy2c4qbge6h6ed4/post/3mnult3hv4c2d

Which do you prefer among the two?

I appreciate the warning, thank you!

Glad to hear they don’t rely on jump scares. They stress me out without adding anything to the movie. I might actually check this one out.
I hope one bad experience doesn’t spoilt it for him long term. Stay strong!

Just looking at your post history. Is this some kind of cruelty fetish of yours?

Interesting commentary on this by historian Aparna Nair on Bluesky. Essentially, saying that caste and discrimination is inherent in a certain cohort of the society which adhere to racism and eugenics.

Very interesting and credible. I recognise the hypervigilance part, and it sounds like there’s some practice/training as well as “instinct” in there too.

I’ve tried but they* don’t hit the way they used to. And they’re a bit louder than I remember.
* The Real Ghostbusters & TMNT. Both from the 80s/90s.

I’m relieved to hear that. I’m thinking back about the times where I might have missed something like that. Not a comfortable thought. Thanks for the reply!

That is absolutely terrifying. Good instincts on your part. I’m assuming/hoping she was okay?

That was a terrifying read, but thanks for sharing. I’d like to be able to spot it.

I don’t know if I’d accept such an apology, but the acknowledgment is at least a step forward.
It’s a pity that it follows a different kind of pressure from the USA. That takes the sincerity out of it a bit.
Thank you for that detail
