HeartyOfGlass@piefed.socialto Technology@lemmy.world•Wikimedia sunsets separate mobile domainsEnglish74·13 days agoThat was pretty standard for a while in web design - traditional “desktop” sites need a radically different layout when viewed from a smartphone, so from the dev side you’d check the size of the screen & redirect the user to the right subdomain for their device.
Nowadays it’s not really necessary.

Here’s How It HappensEnglish11·1 month agoIt is not. “Formally dubbed” by people who want you to believe these LLMs are more than just a collection of GPUs. LLMs don’t “understand” anything. These errors pop up because it can’t think, learn, or adapt.
Personifying them like this headline does is stupid and dangerous. LLMs do not “think” because there is no thought. It doesn’t “hallucinate” any more than a rock does.
HeartyOfGlass@piefed.socialto science@lemmy.world•NYTimes: Chatbots Can Go Into a Delusional Spiral. Here’s How It HappensEnglish32·1 month agoDon’t need to. Any writer trying to personify LLMs isn’t worth the bandwidth.
HeartyOfGlass@piefed.socialto science@lemmy.world•NYTimes: Chatbots Can Go Into a Delusional Spiral. Here’s How It HappensEnglish73·1 month agoLLMs cannot think, and cannot “go into a delusional spiral”. Whatever the article contains, it’s bullshit.

Pretty sure it was the first thing they produced after he passed; his dialogue is just scraps they cut from other episodes.
But as far as I’ve heard they intended that to be canon.

Terribly curious to hear the details. “Some hackers did something with some data and crippled a large car company” is about all I got out of that article.
I got $1 says they gained access by whaling one of the execs.
