First off, the donbas is not majority russian. While it has the largest group of Russians in the country it is still majority Ukrainian.
Second, the ICJ and international association of genocide scholars investigated Russia’s claim of massacre and genocide and found them to be entirely baseless and fabricated to justify invasion.
Third, if this was about liberating the donbas, then Russia wouldn’t have gone all the way to Kyiv at the beginning of the invasion. Even still Russia occupies far more than the donbas.
I swear the way some of yall rush to defend Russia. You guys realize it’s not socialist anymore, right? That the country is ruled and controlled by capitalists? That capital interests like the oil in ukraine are what drive them?
No, I’m pointing out your hypocrisy in recognizing that Iraqi nukes and the war on terror were largely overplayed to justify the invasion of the middle east for oil but not recognizing when Russia does the same shit in Ukraine. But it seems like you’re the type to decide who to support based on a vague tribalist conception of “east vs west” rather than actually having any moral principles to rely on, so I apologize if my criticism of certain eastern and western actions simultaneously is too much for you to handle.

0·1 year agoI will always understand having grievances for the democratic party because all they do is defend the status quo - I do too - but not voting over that is just fucking stupid. You want to change that? Go to protests, vote in primaries, support local initiatives for ranked choice voting, donate to causes you find actually beneficial, support local politicians that dont just support the status quo, support movements you believe in. If its about Gaza, speak up about that, donate to humanitarian funds, etc. There are ao many things you can do that can impact these things. But refusing to vote does actually fucking nothing for that cause.
There is no world in which more people refusing to vote for Kamala would have gotten us a better president or stopped genocide in gaza. Or really had any impact in any way that wasn’t making trump more likely to win. IMO the folks that did that were doing it more for themselves so they could feel morally superior because they didnt vote for the candidate that supported genocide or the “status quo” even though it literally never would have had any impact on either of those things.
(And let’s be real - trump is way worse for Gaza than Kamala would have been. I’m sure she wouldn’t have done enough, just like Biden, but at least there are voices in that party calling out Israel. Those voices fall far more deaf on this administration’s ears)
Right, and the oil is just a coincidence, that just so happened to be there. And the US invaded Iraq because of terrorists and nukes that weren’t there, the oil was just a coincidence.
You’re really gonna say the attempts to distance themselves from the culture of their previous colonizers and current invaders is genocide?
Right, because drawing an allegory to the actions of the United States in the middle east as an example of doing something bad is the best way to praise the states
“No guys, it’s ok when Russia unapologetically invades a foreign country for oil, because you see that country is part of the west and west = bad”
I mean I could almost see that? Helldivers is kinda a satire on the american brand of fascism so it could be argued its an anti-fascist peace of media. But that’s a stretch to say the least.
But my real issue with this is that federal investigators saw something they had absolutely no clue what it is and called it a transgender symbol. Its an incredible amount of bias in a particularly very bigoted way.
Reminds me of a lyric from The Clash - “taking off his turban, they said, ‘is this man a jew?’” They see something unknown to them and just assign it to the marginalized group they have a preconceived notion of being bad.
This says that the “sequence of arrows” was interpreted as a transgender symbol.
Now we know that the sequence of arrows was “up, right, down, down, down”
…that’s the strategem code for the 500kg bomb in helldivers 2.
The ATF interpreted a video game reference as a transgender symbol…
Edit: another claim I’m seeing, quote from snopes:
Some users online claimed officials had misinterpreted “TRN,” an engraving found on ammunition produced by Turan Ammunition, a Turkish company, as “transgender ideology.”
This is a more logical mistake to make but is also an embarrassing and irresponsible mistake from the ATF if true.

4·1 year agoProbably. But that might be under the umbrella of optional usage statistics/reporting that you can opt out of. Since this new tracking would be “necessary” for their “security” feature to work, there’s no chance that it could be avoided.

9·1 year agoCould be, but that could also just be done locally. Like your phone checking the apps you have installed and seeing if the same ones are on the play store. Having an install limit for an app - assuming that means that the app can only be installed some total number of times globally (a local install limit wouldn’t make any sense I think) - necessarily implies that when you install an app through an APK, it has to tell Google that you installed that app so it can track how many people have installed it and not approve installation of the app if it’s over whatever the limit is.

102·1 year agoSomething kind of concerning I just found - there’s an option for “limited distribution” which is “Intended for ‘students, hobbyists, and other personal use.’” One of the differences is the following:
Has “capped number of apps and installs”(specific limits not disclosed)
Doesn’t this imply there’s going to be global tracking of what apps people are installing even through sideloading or APKs? I can’t think of any other way to enforce this. They would have to know how many times people installed an app even when its not through any kind of app store or even from the internet at all.
I’m sure the people getting deported to concentration camps and losing their healthcare will understand that you not voting was just to save the children in gaza (oh wait, they’re dying anyway)
Edit: also are you genuinely claiming that Harris would have done all of those things that I listed? Every single one of them? Be so for real. If that’s actually where your head is at you are so unbelievably out of touch I think you’re beyond saving.
I’d say its more complicated than that but yeah absolutely that administration didn’t try to stop it, it clearly wasn’t their goal in the slightest. They did very little (though even that very little was more than the trump administration has ever done or tried to) but I’m not gonna act like Kamala Harris would have been like the fuckin savior of Gaza cause that’s just false.
However, if Harris had won the election, we would:
- not have people sent to concentration camps in El Salvador
- not have a concentration camp in the Everglades
- not have the mass militarization of ICE
- not hace the total loss of due process for immigration cases and people being kidnapped by federal officers off the street
- not have millions of people losing Medicaid
- not have the national guard marching on the streets of DC
- not have Texas gerrymandering 5 seats in the middle of the term at the president’s request
- not have the CDC, HHS, and millions of dollars in funding for research gutted
- not have environmental programs and research gutted
- not have a convicted rapist in the oval office
- not have students deported for protesting
- there’s like dozens more things that I could list tbh
- still have a genocide in gaza
I totally understand why people were really upset about that last point. I was/am too. But I have a few thoughts:
- If you thought Trump would have been better for gazans than Harris, you’re a fucking idiot.
- If you think those two were equally bad because of that single issue, then you’re a fucking idiot.
- If you didn’t vote to make a point about how we need something better than those two options, you contributed far more towards Trump’s victory than you did to making that point, especially since the democratic party is full of imbeciles who will see your missing vote and interpret it as meaning they need to become more “moderate.”
No, but less is better than more

5·1 year agoThe thing that’s been bothering me is, since when did a local, “ragtag group” of activists have this much influence on the actions of massive corporations? Bigger, more powerful groups have tried and failed to make changes like this over and over again. Why does collective shout have so much pull? It doesn’t make any sense to me.

DNS request will go to the DNS server but from what I can tell the packet wont go anywhere else. At least on my own network, traceroute gives only one entry and its the final destination. I assume this is because the router knows its own public IP and as such knows the packet doesnt need to be sent anywhere else.
