News@lemmy.world•Google will take away Search from schools that refuse "AI"
4·7 hours agoCould that be a reason to move away from googles platform then? When I was at school we didn’t really have any platforms. Just windows PCs with a domain login and software we need installed on the PCs. We all had GIMP.
Head of IT was a twat, but the other IT teacher was based - gave everyone a memory stick with Linux on it.

News@lemmy.world•Google will take away Search from schools that refuse "AI"
4·10 hours agoIs this a threat? Couldn’t they just use anything else? Also how do google know its a school? Its been a while since I was in school but almost none of us logged into google and we didn’t have google accounts.
Don’t forget /dev/mmcblk0p1 and /dev/nvme0n1p4how4fucking7long1must6these5get
I should install Debian to replace my current Ubuntu install at some point. Might move some services I run to a VM to reduce effort when reinstalling my OS. Then it’s just install steam and copy over my game backup folders. Plus with a VM I can easily move it to a proxmox mini PC if I ever get round to buying one.

Technology@lemmy.world•Anthropic confirms new Claude Code limits to prevent game cloning — users report Opus 5.5 is also actively blocking reverse engineering tasksEnglish
1·1 day agoYou can let others use your hardware and in return get higher priority to use others. Want to generate 20 images? Its quicker spread across several other peoples GPUs at the same time with the same prompt.
Not poked AI stuff in a while though, it was interesting from a technical perspective but overall not super useful to me.
Shockwaves can go through solid objects without destroying them and still harming people on the other side. I would want more clarity on the indestructibility of the hut.

Work Reform@lemmy.world•Top 1% Hold $60.3 Trillion, Bottom 50% Just $4.3 Trillion: Market Commentator Says 'the Middle Class Is Gone'
4·1 day agoSort of, but I find in reality they usually look down on the working class and will vote against them.

2·2 days agoBut we do own RAM, do they plan to buy all of it indefinitely? All sorts of other businesses still need computers so they will be buying them even if they cost more, and when they replace them the old ones can be sold off.
There is even the possibility of crowd sourced AI, I know AI horde exists although I think its pretty small and I haven’t touched it in a few years now.

Work Reform@lemmy.world•Top 1% Hold $60.3 Trillion, Bottom 50% Just $4.3 Trillion: Market Commentator Says 'the Middle Class Is Gone'
3·2 days agoIn the UK the middle class also largely seem to not want to help the working class. I have seen them complain about things which help the working class as it brings them closer to the middle class and they don’t like it. Things like a livable minimum wage.
That works on things that run away. It could just eat you if it can beat you in a sprint.
Do I get to choose the food and can I use it towards the production of improvised weapons, including chemical and bio weapons? Can I stay in the hut and throw things outside the hut?
If yes, sure.
Alternatively: is the t-rex provided food during this time?

3·2 days agoThey have but the other components don’t cost much in comparison. You are pretty much buying memory and it happens to have a completed system attached.
Pi zero is still pretty cheap though. 512MB of memory should help keep that affordable.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do we really want Lemmy's userbase to grow and assimilate "normies"?
4·2 days agoMore niche interests, less politics. A niche community could move to Lemmy instead of hosting their own forum for example. Either hosting their own instance or using an existing one.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Me with my DDR3 system seeing all these RAM memes
4·2 days agoStill got a 16GB i7-4790k system in the loft. No PSU as moved that when upgrading. I expect motherboards are a bit difficult to get hold of for DDR3 systems now.

What if I like being occasionally misgendered?
