And when it’s not red, you have a serious issue going on. This is actually how a couple initially noticed something was wrong with their toddler’s eye. Turned out she had cancer. She’s a healthy adult now, with a glass eye, but I have never looked at red eyes in photographs in a negative way since then.
Stop calling me out like this. :P
Me too. I also get anxiety attacks over needles… Last time this happened I was in the ER anyways. I passed out, apparently seized up, they stuck an oxygen tube in my nose and I woke right back up. I remember being asked if I knew where I was and I said “no.” Time before that was when I got my second COVID shot at a drive through clinic… The nurse gave me the shot in my shoulder bone. Passed out in the car while we were waiting and ended up on the ambulance to go down the block to the hospital.
This has happened to me since I was a teenager. I just warn people that I might pass out.

At first, I thought this was the joke… But then realized it’s because catbox doesn’t load for me, for whatever reason.
Simple Green is my go to degreaser when dish soap and hot water don’t cut it.
Not OP, but my favorite faction was dungeon. Getting all those black dragons and having a good ole time across the map… I need to pick it back up.
SuzyQ@sh.itjust.worksto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How are you actually doing today?5·6 months agoPast two weeks have been such a roller coaster that I don’t even know. Thankfully I have therapy in the morning so I hope I can get the help I need to get this sorted. Things seem to be happening back to back to back that it feels, at times, that I don’t get a chance to breathe.
SuzyQ@sh.itjust.worksto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What food or item/brand did you use to love, but isn't around anymore?2·6 months agoMr Green by SoBe. Tasted like Dr Pepper, but it was green, and was available in Pepsi vending machines after 7up brand split away from PeosiCo in vending machines (iirc it was because that was the time Sierra Mist came out).
In this context, TTS is Text To Speech which is an accessibility program for people who are visually impaired.
SuzyQ@sh.itjust.worksto Games@lemmy.world•DeckSight: OLED mod for the LCD Steam DeckEnglish1·7 months agoit’s the same workflow as a shell swap so the two upgrades can easily go hand in hand.
That’s exactly what I’m planning on doing, if it gets funded. I was going to go with the DeckHD screen, but they’ve been having issues for months and it’s turned me off from it - bad customer service, simply not shipping product purchased, forcing their customers to do a charge back for a refund because they’ve ghosted their user base.
If it doesn’t get funded, I’ll be buying a replacement screen from ifixit. My deck screen has some discoloration from pressure being applied to the screen at some point.
SuzyQ@sh.itjust.worksto Games@lemmy.world•DeckSight: OLED mod for the LCD Steam DeckEnglish1·7 months agoHonestly, I’ve watched the creator’s yt videos and I can’t notice a difference in the height of the screen. In the first video, he addressed the height difference and stated that he couldn’t get one the same height because valve had it custom made.
With that said, I’ve never been one to focus on bezel size or be perturbed by it.
The Faraway Paladin
Wistoria (HP but better)
The Ossan Newbie Adventurer (just silly and cute OP protagonist)
Ascendence of a Bookworm
Kaiju No.8 (AoT but BETTER - doesn’t drag)

Parent here. School decided that all of December would be dress up days this year instead of just the week before they got out for break. I went all “bah humbug” and my kiddos did not participate - except for the school colors day because they already had shirts in those colors.
SuzyQ@sh.itjust.worksto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•I'm pretty sure all of us have given up on any boomer giving us anything anywayEnglish39·7 months agoMy boomer dad: you probably won’t get anything because I’m paying [i.e. using my retirement] to take care of my [100 year old] mother
Me: that’s understandable
First one:
About ten years ago my husband got a job and our health insurance changed providers (very common here). My second child needed a refill on his control inhaler for asthma. He’d been on the same one since he was initially diagnosed at 2 years old. Insurance denied covering that brand (which was older and therefore cheaper) until he tried expensive brand. Expensive brand was $80 out of pocket, and I am still livid that they fucked around with his health like that. The only way they’d consider covering the original one was if we tried expensive brand and it didn’t work. For a six year old. With asthma. Thankfully, it did work but it still pisses me off.
Second one:
Shit happened and my kids and I ended up on state Medicaid for almost a year. My state privatized it and they declined to cover every. single. visit. and now, years later, I’m still fighting for them to retroactively cover visits so I’m not on the hook for thousands of dollars.
To grow the veggies bought with the food stamps. 😉
Seriously though, you can buy seeds and bulbs for growing food on food stamps. I can’t remember if live plants are covered - it’s been a few years since I’ve needed them.
Luna - male
Eclipse - female
Madame (formally Freya) - female
Bat - female
Ding - male
Rainbow bridge: Gaia - female, Apollo - female
Bat and Ding had those names at the shelter and we didn’t see a reason to change them. Luna … We were told he was a she as a kitten, and after a week of proper nutrition we saw the boy bits and just kept the name. Apollo was purposely named that way because we already had one swap and then we’d have the sun and moon.
