Did CNN re-record it this time?
The article literally says this at the start of the 4th paragraph lmao did you read it?
Well what do you mean by provocation? Because I can’t imagine her doing anything that would actually warrant the responses alleged.
Yeah, I mean you never explicitly stated it wasn’t the fault of the Israeli’s here. But I think that is still implied by what you said, and that’s why people are raging against you.
There’s a nuanced issue here about fault and responsibility, I think. The Israelis are absolutely at fault for any mistreatment of Greta (or any prisoner), and the Israelis are responsible for their actions, but Greta is also responsible for putting herself in harm’s way. However, Greta isn’t necessarily at fault for doing so, and furthermore her responsibility for her own actions must in no way detract from the responsibility nor fault by the Israeli forces.
Responsibility isn’t portioned out in percentages. Someone can be 100% responsible for something, but someone else can also have some responsibility. However, fault is portioned out, and a victim is in no way at fault for the fault of their attacker.
But your original point was that Greta “provoked” the Israelis. This is you implying fault. And I don’t think you can reasonably justify this assumption.
This is classic victim blaming. “You knew you would get attacked, so it’s your fault, not the attacker’s fault.”
Her goal is to get food to starving people. Media attention furthers that goal, even if they don’t succeed directly in delivering food.
Their point is right there taking up half the comment:
being a conservative mean those who in politics uphold the value of tradition, oppose any progressive ideology, and aim to preserve traditional social and political structures
In other words, they’re “conserving” traditional values.
However this isn’t really true, and @Lumisal@lemmy.world is correct that this isn’t really what they’re doing. It’s how they think they’re behaving, but they have a distorted view on history and see it through rose tinted glasses, often trying not to conserve but to “restore” society to some half-cocked version that never really existed.
Lol, I’m sure it’s a good book and Cory Doctorow is well renowned, but I can’t help but think: “Defeat Chokepoint Capitalism by buying our book right now!”
Did you read the article - or even the title? This story is about people turning to piracy, not turning to another official source.
I was listening to the podcast You’re Dead to Me, and they kind of covered this in a recent episode. Basically in the olden days you wouldn’t undo all 650 buttons, or maybe even any buttons, as people would have sex pretty much fully clothed. You’d almost never see a fully naked women, and in fact full nudity was seen as more promiscuous than sex.
So they’d basically just lift up the dress, and you probably wouldn’t even smell much with how much clothes were between your nose and her genitals.
I’m just glad they didn’t go into a protracted and expensive legal battle with this one, which isn’t exactly a good use of donated funds.
I agree with /u/gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world, “dropping off the grid” is something you do to yourself, ie when you’re trying to hide, not something someone does to you. The language used in the article seems to be intentionally misleading and waters down the story of the government disappearing people.
It could be that some people released did indeed drop off the grid, and went into hiding themselves, in an attempt to avoid further persecution from the government. However out of 1,800 people it seems like most of them have rather been “lost” by the government and were never even released.
He’s also Jewish, and a prominent politician in a field where Israeli lobbying is extensive, so him speaking out against Israel is a big line for him to cross.
And Microsoft Activation Script will license it permanently.
Oh the irony of sitting back on Win 10 being what saves people from the issue.
(Software) Piracy is not theft, by definition. Theft requries an intent to deprive, and copyright infringement does not deprive. Theft is a crime, copyright infringement is a civil offense (aside from the criminal version that now exists thanks to extensive lobbying by predatory rights holder organisations, but that has a slightly higher bar and is meant only for commercial pirates who profit).
It’s a good job car mechanics and electricians use filthy language anyway, or they’d be in trouble.
What’s next?
“Moist”.
Wasn’t this around the time Trump went AWOL?
You’re right, this is more of an issue with your purchase not being complete. I think your legal remedies would either be through your card provider (probably too late) or civil action directly to Rockstar.
Not to mention the fact this is a UK media outlet sharing a story from the US - and it’s not even their reporting but just a regurgitation of an actual local news station.
