Trump wants them to stop fighting and allow the US to start digging for Ukrainian minerals. The Russians keep winning in clear defiance of this goal.
Americans don’t know that there’s a world outside of the US. They genuinely believe that the world will cease to function without them.
That was the line that irritated me the most too. Imagine travelling halfway around the world to kill people who don’t share your values. Assholes.
Is “The Hill” going to be labelled as a Russian asset now? The article does indeed contain a shocking amount of truth, and completely contradicts the western narrative for the last 3 years.
I lost family to the American Holocaust.
When has the US EVER been a democracy?
At it’s conception through the 19th century, they were exterminating my people, and black people were seen as more useful subhumans, so they were kept alive. Women of course were just there to make babies.
Near the end of the 19th century, black men fought hard, and gained the right to vote for the oppressor of their choice. They were still killed if they dared to do so though.
White women gained the right to choose their oppressor in the early 20th century. In the words of Susan B Anthony:
“I will cut off this right arm of mine before I will ever work or demand the ballot for the Negro and not the woman.”
Today, things haven’t changed much. We have the right to vote now, so long as the police haven’t trumped up an excuse to arrest us. Murdering our women is still rampant. The last election saw the choice between Donald Trump (need I say more?), and a rich black oligarch who campaigned heavily on genocide. Americans like to forget the genocide was the basis for “their country”. We want our land back. We want an end to your “democracy”. It’s nothing but genocide wrapped in lies.
This was recommended to me relatively recently on Xiao Hong Shu. I wasn’t sure what version to get, and I guess I have my answer! Thanks comrade!
The amount of crap that the US gets away with in broad daylight is truly astonishing.
My thoughts:
“There’s no way that’s the real title of the article”
“OMG it is!”
Ukrainian officials fear an alignment between Washington and Moscow could shut them out of the discussion about their country’s future.
“Holy hell they’re openly saying it in the first line! I need to make some popcorn!”
Well, that’s great news at least! Thanks for the translation!
It could be because I just woke up, but I have no idea what the author was even trying to say. I would call it AI generated, but it’s not just not as eloquent.
Lemmy ate my reply. But the short version is that I actually do mostly agree with you. I try not do this myself, but it is linguistically difficult to speak more narrowly about the Nazis in Ukraine. I just think it’s a wee bit of a stretch to assume that the comment you referenced actually refers to all Ukrainians.
How is it any different from saying “Americans” do such and such when their representatives say awful things? We know that there are American comrades, and we know that there are likely a great number more comrades in Ukraine. I really don’t think the post was meant to disparage all Ukrainians. Just the ones that support what their representatives are saying.
That’s not even a lemmygrad user. Regardless, I think the point is that the people in power are Nazis. Not the general populace. Ukraine is tearing down victory monuments for Christ’s sakes. When Georgia starts doing that, I’ll definitely be sympathetic to calling their government Nazis.
They’re losing the war at a rapidly increasing rate. But they have to spin it as a victory. They’ve been claiming this entire time that the Russians are throwing massive amounts of men and materiel at them in human waves. It makes sense to keep using that claim and say that Ukraine is cleverly exploiting the dumb Russian tactics to increase the attrition rate.
Of course that all falls apart even if you only read western media, if you read further than the headline. The reality is an underequipped, under trained, under staffed UAF being sent to the frontline in their mass. Pretty much the opposite of what’s advertised. You’re not supposed to remember that Russia has air superiority and at least a 3:1 advantage in artillery and drones. You aren’t supposed to see the military cemetaries in Ukraine adding hundreds of thousands of new plots.
You’re just expected to forget all that, and believe Zelensky when he says that there have been less than 40k casualties, and Russians are throwing themselves on the brave Ukrainian bayonettes. Then this makes sense.
I read that article this morning. It’s a well oiled routine at this point. Russians are using human wave tactics in the first half, then the second half talks about massive Russian artillery and air superiority, and how the UAF is taking enormous losses.
I almost think that the reporter knows that their regular readership only reads headlines. But they still want to tell the truth.
I very rarely click on video links. But I watched this one. It’s honestly not that earth shattering IMO. Russia has nearly encircled a fairly large area where there may or not be a sizeable chunk of UAF.
I do think that the end of the war is fast approaching, and we’ll see some real change this winter. But this isn’t it. This is a tactical victory, not a strategic one.
I’d not been following the war that closely until the Kursk invasion. I strongly believed it to be the beginning of the end. It makes absolutely zero strategic sense. Zelensky himself has waffled on what the point of it is. At this point it seems to be just a terrorist attack/PR stunt aimed at harming Russian civilians. That’s not really a good use of your best troops if you want to win a war. As we can see with the collapse of the Ukrainian fronts, which Ukraine is still not doing much about. This just isn’t sustainable.
I just wasted about a half hour of my time skimming through it. I remember upon first hearing about Russiagate that an infant could tell it was nonsense. Vague claims of hacking something or other, and being upset at Russia for exposing dirt on Hillary. The whole thing seemed manufactured.
This report seems just as manufactured and infuriatingly vague. It could be that it’s too hard to refute such vague claims, or it could just be a whole lot of finger pointing (I’m leaning towards that one). Regardless, it’s really not worth wasting my time thinking about it.
I am going to get the popcorn out to watch the US president cage match though. I doubt much of anything will come of it, but it’s sure to be entertaining, and I like seeing the capitalist class doing some infighting.
