its one of those games that’s Fucking Compelling in terms of being a well thought out high-stakes interesting sci-fi malaise story where you learn bits and pieces as you go on like you’re actually learning about the setting as you go. also with plenty of twists and emotional beats but it had a shitty pointless choose-your-own-ending that sort of threw me for a loop and i couldnt quite grasp what the larger ideas it was finally putting its mark on were meant to be. it should have had one ending because a few of them were like absolute fearmongering over the idea of anyone having any political power. but based on the strengths of the compelling-ness of it throughout, it did deserve any and all praise the narrative got.

i dont fully understand what you mean about it being impossible to be a teen kid of the Hong Kong diaspora but basically i think it’s probably because the creators are the type of expats that are rich enough to have been involved in the HK protests or know people who were and they just want to 1. write what they know and 2. launder anti-communist sentiment in the guise of anti-authoritarianism or criticising “left fascism”. the main creative director is a key figure in a post-modernistic sort of art collective from what i can tell. not an inch of grunge or subversiveness or anything of the like in them https://www.hongkongexile.com/about

i was trying to figure out why i was so annoyed but i realise if i had to do even 4 different printed revisions and also if his last concept was the best I had in me and ALSO if it needed to be such an exotic material to be strong enough i would think i finally have lost the plot. also he doesnt even add a handle to the other end and keeps the shitlord recessed handhold ?? and also can’t figure out or envision making it a permanent fixture and makes it semi-permanent when the concept was originally meant to be as easy as a snap fit? and designs the snap fit in like 6 different shitty ways before changing the design in the most half assed way possible? and , 500,000 views?? this is your hero???

had this saved for a year and only now read Blindsight. excellent. one of the many ideas it made me realise is that i should meditate more often and step out of my mind a bit more physically

some of them are just obscure and i only heard of their artists and that they were a big thing (big enough to be suppressed and harassed) from this book “The Folk Singers and the Bureau” and others arent quite labor/communist songs but i just think are neat like “The Dying Cowboy” and “Farewell Angelina” theyre absolute heart-renders. some are only on there because theyre a bit different but i wouldnt call them good and they only barely fit the style like “Coal Miner’s Daughter” by far my least fav

Yea it doesn’t give very much to go on about how time progresses and what exactly you’ll have the power to do within certain time periods. Hell Yeah. I say near-complete honesty because the only shit thing i did was promise the reformist vice presidency because I didn’t think Lucian would become an option at the time, just knew Petr would need to go because he’s a loose cannon POS. And i fulfilled the promise. As for the other things the anti-corruption police wasn’t an option because i didn’t want to fund the police and didn’t think anti-corruption police would be an option. See this game gives you some real out of nowhere choices sometimes and gives you “hey fuck you decide on this really important thing right now in a very dichotomous way without talking to anyone that matters” a lot of other times

I did some reading after playing blind and you can do even better theoretically by not being couped and becoming VP of the People’s Front but that requires extreme loving up to the military and all sorts of liberal dishonest political sucking and fucking. so i’m not roused enough to try for a second run. by force of will and near complete honesty i got this exiled but overall epic-ly winning ending. only possible better ending IMO (i don’t think can happen in the game other than an unresolved civil war?) is complete proletarian revolution and wiping the governmental slate clean
