Well, seems like this is what it costs....

Nice writeup! Agree with the ownership part absolutely, and the alternative software is quite good indeed XD
Just dropping in here that you should absolutely try Nicotine+ for finding basically anything

I cant believe how all these officials just have random malware android.
Like, GrapheneOS is free XD

Crazy, izzy is more strict??
There are a ton of llm assisted apps on f-droid, crazy many. In fact, Claude is perfectly able to make reproducible builds, unlike many developers

I think the localsend protocol is nice yes
The apps work nice too
But it is written in dart and flutter, which makes it pretty heavy and not native. The android app is 46MB wich doesnt sound much because android apps generally got more and more bloated… but for comparison iyox wormhole is only 14MB.
Syncthing-fork is bigger, basic-sync a bit smaller. But still, a small CLI could be under 1mb and run on way more devices

Moving a hand is way easier than tilting a finger accurately yeah
Interesting stuff! Cool developments for sure. Did you follow AerynOS too? They are doing some cool stuff too

Heck yeah vibecoded AI-bloated techbro nonsense! This is the future of the Linux Desktop!

Cool list apart from all the downstream projects whose upstreams use AI

Sorry to say but I found KDEnlive to be absolutely unintuitive. Niccolo Ve’s Plasma Studio looks fucking amazing though, still a one-italian-project though
VLC 3.0 when
It was 3.0 right? Wayland and HDR and all the other stuff that is in MPV since forever? I use Haruna btw
Use Celluloid

Lol that is pretty important context XD

You know they could just donate to fucking freedesktop.org, GNOME, KDE Plasma, Flatpak or anything else useful…
If they were cool they could donate to KeepassXC lol

What a joke. There are at least 4 FOSS telegram forks on F-Droid and IzzyOnDroid

It is easier to break something than to reverse engineer drivers and firmware and maintain yourself XD
Also, firmware updates need to be signed so it is impossible to update, unless there is a really bad vulnerability
And you can buy phones used, my most expensive one was under 400€

Dont buy anything older than an 8 currently. Think about support lifespan, the Pixel 6 will be EOL in one month!

Well, their requirements increased since Pixels got arm memory tagging in the 8 generation. The 11 would be more secure than a 7 for example but they are still uncertain about supporting them, because it is a clear security downgrade
Nice! It is sometimes pretty slow
