  • Done with skong but occasionally do a couple hours on my steel soul run. I give myself “checkpoints” by doing a backup of the save whenever I’ve done a big thing, haven’t had to use them so far and I’m up to mid act 2.

Been getting back into Vintage Story latest update with a bunch of mods. Found a cool better ruins’ abandoned village and used that as my place. Got a bunch of copper, started making bread and pies, pretty decent resources but lack of lime or alternatives for soaking pelts and making leather. I managed to sieve enough flax pulp to make parchment and craft my map finally (I play on wilderness, with craftable cartography so no directions, coordinates or map unless you craft stuff to get it. Makes you rely on your own directions, markers, etc. Easy to get hopelessly lost.) I need to find a source of lime or borax for leather making, and now I got a map I can travel far and do some prospecting.

I also started playing rain world! Cryptic, very hard, but I love it. Reached what seems to be a milestone/important step in the first campaign (survivor). Slugcats are cute :3

Also, I got Warcraft 2 BNE installed in lutris to play that again for some reason. Felt like playing Warcraft 2. I really want to do a full ratchet and clank thing at some point and play through all I can emulate. I only played like 1-4(?) I think so some others to discover if they can be emulated

Oh I’d tried cultist simulator too but haven’t found time to keep going. It was really neat so I want to at some point.

Damn I’m back in gaming. Also want to get into Hades 1 for real, never really did when it was popular.

  • I love it so much.

I really do love this difficulty, it’s exactly my level, so it’s great for me, but i feel bad that many people are struggling and not having fun. I think a difficulty or accessibility option would have been great.

I do share some of the criticisms but none of it is fundamental or makes it less enjoyable for me, just slight frustrations that are easily overcome. Yes I do think some attacks/moves/enemies/contact with enemies shouldn’t do 2 damage, but i’m generally OK with it.

The 2 damage on environment hazards is weird tho. I get having one that makes sense and that you can reduce with a charm, but i’m in the middle of Act 2 and it is kinda strange how almost every environmental hazard does 2 damage. Again i’m OK with it but I don’t really understand the purpose, it feels weird design-wise.

I think the difficulty curve needs to be tuned, I accidentally skipped the boss everyone hates in Greymoor and fought it later, and even with the upgrade I had by then I agree it has too much HP. It hasn’t really made me struggle too much but I see what other people are talking about. It feels like game gets more open and more options after a certain point late in Act 1.

I love Act 2 so much, and I just realized

    (act 2 map design)

the map/area concept is basically like a Hollowknight Castlevania, with tons of dense sub-areas compacted into the Citadel, you’ve got the equivalent of the Clock Tower, of the Library, of the fancy ballroom/aristocrat place, and of the gardens. It’s great!

Have not had this much fun in a long time, i can’t stop playing it and i’m taking my sweet time, doing everything, finding everything, re-visiting places regularly to see what changed, trying interactions and finding lore, etc. It’s so good.

  • Absolutely Love It.

There’s a weird difficulty spike mid-way through Act 1, a particular boss seems to have too much HP and be a bit of a wall for a lot of players, and you still have limited options at that point. After that and 2 other (better) bosses, the game really opens up in places you can go and things to do, and it’s felt incredible since.

I didn’t struggle too much on that boss btw, i’m pretty good at these games and platforming so i’m having a fucking blast, but some of my friends that are less good at those games have struggled a lot.

It’s definitely harder than HK, that’s for sure.

  • Yea i basically have stopped using any specific site/thing for discovery. I just kinda look around when I fancy, hear something somewhere and find it, check out the discography of that band, look into what people also like, etc. I don’t rely on algorithms basically. Maybe the emails I get from bandcamp sometimes based on stuff i’ve already bought or groups/people I already follow.

The downside is that since I don’t even listen to radio or follow specific influencers/recommendations, I feel like a weird hermit, I don’t really know of an artist or their music unless i’ve randomly come across them, even extremely popular stuff everyone’s heard about. But it’s no big deal, I still find plenty of cool things.
