The average is more like 25-30 minutes. If it breaks 45 minutes then either it’s a really even game (which is fun), or the team that has the lead doesn’t know how to use their advantage to win (which is excruciating for both teams).

Still, you’re right, that’s a long time to be locked in with someone who is clearly weighing down the team. And of course, that person is probably embarrassed about their performance, so they’ll often lash out at other people to deflect from themselves, which will tilt the rest of the team even if they were chill until then.

The advantage that a lead gives you is also a lot bigger than in most other games. Players get drastically more powerful as they gain XP and money, so if one team gets an early lead, no amount of mechanical skill will be able to counter their advantage. The only way to catch up is to avoid fighting, drag the game out, farm NPCs, and try to punish the enemy’s mistakes. That’s extremely frustrating if you’re not the one who died and gave them the lead.

It’s hard to avoid getting caught up in all of that unless you decide to focus completely on your own game and improving over time, and stop caring about individual wins and losses. Most people don’t have that kind of perspective. I didn’t either back when I played League a lot.

Well yeah, they’re just blocking known fingerprinting services. If you use a tool that they don’t recognize, it’ll still work, but their approach will still block the big companies that can do the most harm with that data.

The only alternative is probably to disable WebGL entirely, which isn’t a reasonable thing to do by default.

  • We’re in this situation because people don’t vote.

All other forms of political activism, aside from murder, exist to convince people to vote.

    Activism without voting is worthless.

You want more progressive candidates? Vote for Democrats until Republicans are forced to move to the left, and then Democrats will be able to move to the left as well.

That’s how the Overton window works.

Lmao no it isn’t. It’s completely insignificant and barely even qualifies as news.

The US Dollar is strong because we have the largest economy in the world, not because of the good will of some oil exporter.

At least google things before spreading insane misinformation.

  • old webpages (like from the 2000s) are fast and snappy. new webpages take much longer to load.

This part is true, especially on phones, but those old webpages were not fast at all when they were first published.

I remember trying to watch videos on dialup Internet. I’d make it start buffering and then go do something else for half an hour before coming back to watch the video. I also remember avoiding certain websites even on DSL because they had 1 or 2 whole megabytes of JavaScript and it took forever to load.

Increases in bandwidth and processing power has made those old websites seem a lot more performant than they were at the time.

Today we can put a lot more stuff on our websites than we used to, which makes things slower, but we’re also much more aware of major performance issues. Google uses it as a factor in their ranking algorithm, and offers a pretty intelligent tool to help developers figure out where to optimize their websites, so it’s essential for most companies to optimize for that. Giant companies like Amazon and Facebook can ignore it because they’ll always be on top, but the rest of us are getting really excited about new frameworks like solid and qwik that will make it a lot easier to optimize our sites.
