On Reddit there’s a lot of “lemmy’s too complicated to be adopted by the general public”. Ik we don’t all have the same tech literacy but it doesn’t seem that complicated, like, do you understand emailing? Well legal or not, in the EU there are Facebook groups like this for every city. So it seems to be a need for women to ensure their safety. Don’t understand what’s so controversial about that… it’s like cancel culture: when there are no legal repercussions to misbehaving stuff like this happens.

I wish we’d stop depicting authoritarians and dictators in memes. Although it can seem like it’s making them a laughing stock, it’s not. It’s making them more sympathetic to the general public, and they’re taking advantage of it (see the White House PR troll team). Just ask a Colombian if they enjoy seeing Escobar memes, or a Ukrainian seeing Putin memes.

Ironically that might boost productivity. And would lead to something closer to meritocracy
