  • As someone periodically into genealogy, I would love to see the everyday life of my ancestors, how their material conditions and lifestyle changed over the centuries.

Occasionally it blows my mind to think about that my ancestors lived through all those historical eras I learned about. They were always there, going about their life somewhere while the large events happened around/elsewhere.

Also on the flip side, when looking at some Roman ruins in Budapest the other day, that those stones really have been there for ~1900 years. Like just imagining medieval/Renaissance people living around them, what did they think of them? I usually think of history as distinct periods, but (at least in Europe) people of most eras lived in/on the works of earlier civilisations.

Yeah, it’s definitely YMMV. Also I read that minoxidil is only good for hair loss in the back, not for receding hairline. I was using it for almost a decade before I switched to a buzz cut, then shaved it all off. Unfortunately my hair loss was primarily in the front, so I’m not sure minoxidil ever did much.

(Fellow trans person btw, though I haven’t tried to use it before testosterone started kicking my hairline the way my genetics were pointing 😅️)
