(From Austria) They didn’t believe us that we would ride our bike to work.
Just to be clear, hardly any Austrian lives without power in their house, even if they live up on mountains. But almost all my coworkers and myself included take their bike to work. (Although we live in a city, hard to get up your little mountain hut with your bike ;) )

krawutzikaputzi@slrpnk.netto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•And they even get a seizure when you take their ipads away15·1 month agoYes that’s kind of a pet peeve of mine. I understand that sleep deprived parents sometimes need to put their kids in front of their phones. But in recent years I have noticed that they just blast the sound really loud and don’t care about any other human being. I’m really shy but after almost freaking out on a train ride because of two different kids just watching something full volume I have asked parents to tone it down. They were even kind of embarrassed and nice about it. I have no idea how you can be so disconnected to your surrounding… The worst were grandparents with a 2 year old kid during a kids theater and they just let the kid watch a show with the volume up. I mean what about all the other kids who are performing and you sit in the middle with a phone just blasting full volume. They wanted to stop him and then he started throwing a tantrum. They just laughed and were like oh he’s so cute and we can’t do anything about it. Fuck that’s not cute, if you want to watch a tv show with volume, just sit outside of theater with your little brat!
Good choice! Had one yesterday :)
It really doesn’t? We had an exchange doctor and she always complained why we had so many YouTube ads and I always wondered why she was so vocal about that. Makes sense now if she was used to no ads at all!

Just the first time it clicked for me why someone just couldn’t be a male/female presenting person without going through gender affirming care. Thanks and wish you all the best!

A new poll shows what's behind the decline.2·2 months agoSo my boyfriend was drinking about 6-8 beers per day and some schnaps. (Sometimes half a bottle to a bottle per day). For me it’s like 3 beers a day, but because of work I can’t drink everyday so I guess for me it’s not going to be that hard. Just when I have a hard day at work I’m so happy to come home to my boyfriend and beer. I think it’s not going to be a physical withdrawal for me but a mental thing I will have to fight. And also of course when partying we used to drink much more also …
krawutzikaputzi@slrpnk.netto News@lemmy.world•Only 54% of U.S. adults say they drink alcohol, a record low. A new poll shows what's behind the decline.3·2 months agoWe’re scared too. Especially my boyfriend is really scared about withdrawal symptoms. Anyway he’s also started to realize that he got a beer belly already. I know it’s not recommended but I think drinking once a week isn’t that bad. And also I don’t believe in the whole one drink again and you will drink again all the time. Hope your sleep improves soon!

Oh that’s really nice! I’m in Europe and I guess the whole insurance plan is very different here :) my friend is from Serbia and it looks like it’s even cheaper there(like 150USD/month). I’m just sceptical about long term benefits. And as she doesn’t have a lot of money and wants to get pregnant in the next years. But she’s made good progress so far :) so I guess that’s good. Thanks for the reply and I’m sure it’s beneficial for a lot of people!
So I just looked up what semaglutid costs in the USA and google says it’s like 1000? Ok even without insurance and everything I guess it’s cheaper here in Europe ;-)
Are there any stats on weight gain after stopping the medication? From my surroundings almost everyone gained the weight again when they stopped. Just the ones who really put in effort to also do sport and change their general diet. I got mounjaro for a friend and she’s loosing weight but I’m scared she’s just throwing money out of the window because as soon as she stops she’ll put the weight back on. She is bipolar and pretty bad with all of her goals. And she really doesn’t have the money to spend so much on medication which will just cause a temporary weight loss :-/
krawutzikaputzi@slrpnk.netto A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•This boomer couple would be hit with $700,000 tax bill if they sold their mansion3·2 months agoAt least you got out of that horrible family dynamic! Don’t know if I can judge from one comment, but sounds like your wellbeing didn’t benefit from the relationship and am happy for you that you’re doing better for yourself. And of course there are some nice boomers but even if I have the nicest, most loving parents they just seem they don’t care about the future of their kids and next generation while the generations before tried to make their kids’ lives better.
krawutzikaputzi@slrpnk.netto A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•This boomer couple would be hit with $700,000 tax bill if they sold their mansion12·2 months agoI guess all the boomer parents are like that. I have a really good relationship with my parents, but they wouldn’t help me out when my boyfriend and I bought a flat. Went as far as telling me that I’m trying to rob them, because maybe I can’t afford the flat and then the bank will take their houses. I told them the bank just can’t do that and they didn’t believe me until they went to talk to a lawyer. And best part is, now they always say I’m not thankful because I will inherit their houses and they build them for me? And their parents were really poor small scale farmers, still they saved up to help them with their first home. As you can tell I’m still bitter about that.
In Ghana they sold water in plastic bags everywhere, so you just got a bag and drank it straight away. Same thing here I guess, not possible to carry it around.
