Damn, that’s sad. I have nothing but pity for anyone who considers themselves a “true” or “professional” sea lion.

When I’m not sure, I just give them the benefit of the doubt. For example, there’s a good chance that the person replying to me speaks English well, but it’s not their first language. Also, their cultural norms might be very different from my own. It could be a simple misunderstanding, too. Overreacting would just make things worse.

When it’s obvious that the person replying is just being a pedantic nuisance, though, I merely stop responding. They may think they’ve “won”, but so what? I can go to bed knowing I don’t waste my time sealioning.

Pretty sure any dairy product and any meat is a non-Kosher combination. I’m not an expert, though.

Yeah, but to eat Kosher you can’t serve meat and cheese together. If you go to a Kosher deli in New York, for example, if you want cheese on your sandwich they’ll serve you the cheese on a separate plate. You have to put the cheese on yourself.

So, what’s on the burgers isn’t considered “cheese”, or it IS cheese, but served on the side, or McDonald’s just said “fuck it” and serves cheeseburgers that aren’t Kosher. My guess is #1. It isn’t technically “cheese”, but some sort of “processed cheese food” crap. They already do that with their milkshakes, which don’t actually contain any milk.

They probably get away with it because it isn’t really “cheese” as most people define it.

I’ve read the book several times, and seen the movie twice. The film is excellent, and captures the “feel” very well. Don’t worry about blasphemy. You gave the book a fair, honest chance (and while the story is widely praised, the writing is not. You aren’t alone).
