A 17-year-old boy who allegedly pushed through a hole in the fence at Avalon Airport and got on a plane armed with a gun was overpowered by at least three passengers who spotted his weapon. The teenager, who was dressed as a maintenance worker in hi-vis and wearing a tool belt, was wrestled to the floor of Sydney-bound flight JQ610, which had about 160 passengers on board, just before 3pm on Thursday.
