  • It really is. WebASM is miles beyond what you’re probably thinking of in terms of browser based performance, and most companies these days do not have local applications installed for their office workers. Office 365 is by far the most popular version of office, and it’s entirely browser based. Most in-house corporate IT work from the last decade is electron wrappers of internal company websites acting as simple interfaces for actual heavy lifting.

While there’s definitely some apps that are a bit too heavy for WebASM (or just javascript/.net for the above examples) this list is vanishingly short these days. I’d say blender and other 3d rendering would be inefficient just because WebASM has weird interactions with anything other than OpenGL and Vulkan, But even Unreal 5 can export to WebASM and do it fairly well (as well as OpenGL can perform, that poor outdated thing).

Heck just go to itch.io or any website that has ported over games to WebGL/WebASM. You can run Half-life directly on your browser these days. Half Life of all games. That’s more demanding than anything not 3d that you’d run in an office.

  • Most likely your software will work via bottles or wine. If you have a desktop PC from the last decade and it cost more than $1k, you can also run a VM (or Winboat) specifically for your software with nearly 1:1 performance to bare metal (if you get the passthrough right.)

Which isn’t a permanent solution, mind you, but if it’s just one piece of software holding you back and you don’t care to play with alternatives, then the solution isn’t to keep Windows despite its terrible performance in 99% of things, it’s to switch to windows and emulate or compatibility layer the 1% of software you might use that requires windows.

  • There is no objective truth. If you learn nothing else about life, learn that.

There is what you believe the evidence points to being the most likely sequence of events. That’s it.

Is it likely that Trump was the trigger to end a 40 year streak of presidents not having assassination attempts? Really? You don’t think every Snaggletooth with a gun in BFE Alabama actively planned to shoot Obama and would have at least made the news in an attempt? Is it really likely that the single most expense set of secret police in world history – a group of organizations with NO PUBLIC ACCOUNTABILITY and a history of human rights abuses worse than any other group in known world history, have failed multiple times to stop random kids with guns that magically fire the wrong caliber bullets?

No. It’s not likely Americans magically grew a spine for Trump, who is just the average American President without an tact or competency for secrecy.

What is likely is the WWE Superstar, whose only goal in life has been to be in Hollywood, has a stage director and keeps trying to garner sympathy with these fake attempts.

  • No. There is no evidence of a ‘Uyghur Genocide.’

Yes, I know what characterizes, fascism.

Cult of leadership, objectively, does not apply to China. Evidence, peer-reviewed and heavily scrutinized evidence, is required for someone to advance politically in China. You do not get ahead due to myths or who you blow; unlike the US for instance, where wealth objectively buys power.. This does lead to more competent leaders, of course, but that’s not a ‘cult of leadership’ as we see with US presidents or of course the Big H. We don’t say there’s a cult of leadership around Einstein, for a few obvious reasons.

Hyper-nationalism is also hilarious as a term written in English. Did you know, in communist China, your kids can be arrested if they do not pray to the flag and repeat the communist party’s attestation of loyalty to Xi Jinping‽ Oh. Oh wait. China does have national pride. They are responsible for the single greatest and fastest elimination of extreme poverty in world history. They are responsible for engineering feats that absolutely shadow the entirety of the West’s industrial golden age. There is more rail in China than the entirety of Both Americas, and all of Europe, and all of Russia, combined. And nearly all of it was built in the last 30 years. And all of it is affordable enough that the median worker can transit from Beijing to Xinjiang every work day, if they really wanted. That’d be New York to LA. That costs $3k in the US. Pride is not hypernationalism; but it can be confused for that if you happen to be an enemy of the western fascist hegemony.

The myth of national rebirth… as in they literally took power back from western colonial forces and an imperial dictatorship and created a people’s republic…? That would literally be a rebirth. I know you’re trying to echo Eco, but really this is just a poor point since it wasn’t a myth. It was the single largest popular revolution in world history.

State-directed capitalism, is weird name for socialism. I can link you a dozen books on how exactly the Chinese economy works if you get tired of random journalists with no economic background telling you randomly-strung together words.

So in short, no. It doesn’t ring a bell. I might update with more sources but honestly I’m bored at this point.

I hope you educate yourself further. It’s genuinely tough to be well informed in the west, what with the massive online censorship and complete misinformation from multi-trillion dollar propaganda campaigns, but it’s worth it, I promise.

  • The country that pioneered online censorship? The one that was trying to de-anonymize the internet while China just didn’t have internet access for 99.9999999% of its population? The country, first among developed country, that made political speech against the regime a criminal offense that starts at jail time? The literal blueprint for how not to make laws in regards to privacy or any possible definition of the word ‘freedom?’

Yeah it’s weird seeing cameras on every block in China… or Berlin. But unlike the latter it doesn’t actually do anything in China. Like you have to commit an actual crime, and usually you’d be stopped by locals long before the police do anything based on the footage.

Projection is the favourite tactic of fascists; and literally any horror story you’ve heard about China (all of which have been through organizations exclusively funded by the National Endowment for Democracy, a CIA run organization) is just something actively happening in the US or EU.

  • Except that’s not freedom.

It is not freedom to have a, and this really isn’t an exaggeration, more than 10,000x personal cost for transportation. It’s freedom for the rich, but the rich aren’t a part of society and cannot be generalized into society.

It is not freedom to have to personally rely on the US to do the right thing.

It is not freedom to take on the massive legal and financial risk that is driving a death machine.

It is only freedom in the most infantile, ‘Anarkiddie’ sense of the word freedom. The ‘Hurr durr we’d all be more free if we had less laws’ kind of idiocracy most humans abandon by the age of 15 when they learn about the concept of government.

  • If I say ‘death to nazi germany,’ it’s pretty clear to people with a functional pre-frontal cortext that I mean that the regime should no longer exist, the state in its current form shouldn’t exist, and anyone wanting to enforce such a harmful ideology likely shouldn’t exist.

Israel, a state younger than the invention of computer programming; a state which was born from terrorism and genocide and just never stopped; a state whose history has not seen a single day of peace, nor been the victim in a single conflict it has been involved in; should not be protected nor praised – its ideology is hate, Zionism is a direct copy of nazi ideology, down to its finest point of taking unrelated esoteric religious practices to justify its monsterous behavior, the only noticeable difference being the poorly defined ‘German’ scratched out hastily and a even more poorly defined ‘Jew’ written in its place like a slur.

There is no overexaggeration of any crimes you have ever heard performed in the name of zionism; there is no actual known limit to their depravity. If you can imagine something awful, the IDF have not only done it, they’ve done it on camera then made a Tiktok dancing in their victim’s clothing afterwards.

The entire society is rotted, and has been since its birth, which again was closer in time to us than the invention of the Jet airplane.

Death to Israel is the only possible moral stance.

  • …it’s racist to say the East Turkistan movement, created in 1992 by the National Endowment for Democracy, a CIA front organization responsible for hundreds of propaganda outlets and colour revolutions across the many states of America’s and Israel’s enemies, is a terrorist movement, despite the fact it has been linked to more than a dozen instances of violence in Xinjiang, resulting in China’s investment in the region (and the accompanying very harsh treatment of all people in the region, not just the uyghur minority)?

Or are you saying it’s racist to say Uyghurs in Turkey live objectively worse lives than those in Xinjiang? Because then you’d have to take that up with the world bank.

Or are you saying it’s somehow a racist stereotype for Tibetans to be pedophiles? Because that’s just not true, it’s a documented historical fact that the Tibetan theocracy had child sex slaves, including the Lama at the time; if the Dalai Lama is reincarnated, then there’s at least 50 years there where it was documented that he explicitly raped children, regularly, and created an entire Priest class that had exclusive rights to whatever non-Priest-class children they wanted to fulfill their sexual desires. It’s one of the main reasons the civil war started; regardless of how you feel about China’s involvement after the civil war started – so it’s pretty clear that’s not a stereotype in any civilized land, just that Tibetan Buddhism is code for child sex.

So I’m failing to understand what you think is racist about any of this, I suppose I’m saying.

  • Pretending it is anything more than a way to order your thoughts and slow your heart rate; which reading and journaling both do with about the same scientifically measured effectiveness, is the woowoo part.

It’s not a tie to a spiritual world, or doesn’t raise nor lower your vibration or frequency or whatever nonsense is pushed by which ever nonsense ‘sect’ decides to use it to back their nonsense.

It’s useful in creating a relaxed environment for your body to not overreact and start it’s maintenance functions. And can be useful as a practice to control your thoughts into more useful patterns.
