You’re assuming that the HR department is diligent and willing to expend the energy to track you, and the other three hundred candidates’ information down for this single role. In my experience, this is a wild assumption.

3·17 days agoI think culture plays a huge part in this. In heavily industrialized countries (like America, for example), we are taught that more is always better and that living a simple life is somehow shameful or a waste of potential (not everyone believes this, of course - I’m generalizing). Many, many studies have consistently shown that the happiest people on earth are often those who lead the simplest lives. Perspective really is everything.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Ending a relationship during the dating phase is a positive outcome.English
12·22 days agoDating is the ‘trial phase’ of a relationship. Marriage isn’t required, but the more solid your relationship becomes, the more long-term commitments you’re inclined to make. Ending a relationship that isn’t working for you (and understanding why it isn’t) is the mature and responsible thing to do.

10·26 days agoThere are a couple of methods that I use to discover new artists on Bandcamp. First, you can search by genre on the site itself, which will give you a listing of artists in that genre. Grab a glass of your preferred beverage and spend some time checking them out - each artist’s page has samples of their music that you can stream for free (most have entire albums that can be streamed). I have found tons of artists that I love just by doing this very thing.
The second method I use is Music Map which lets you put in your favorite artists and then shows you other artists with a similar sound (which you can then look up on Bandcamp). It can be really hit or miss, but I’ve found a few artists I like this way.
Hope that helps - have fun listening to new tunes! :)

Flatpak for the win. :)
Just bought it without any problems and fired it up. I like that two-factor authentication is the default. The game runs quite well on my Linux Mint desktop, with really no problems at all so far. Of course, this is Early Access, so I’m sure there will be plenty of bugs here and there. But so far, it’s a good experience and I’m having fun with it! :)
Why…why would you show me this? I was a simple man, with a good name and a happy family…now there is only…the game…

It really depends on the company you’re applying to. If it’s a small business? Yeah, no. They usually can’t afford or don’t want to bother with a vetting agency. If it’s some big corporation? Sure, they’ll probably do that. At the end of the day though, it’s a question of how suspicious you or your resume look that will decide how much energy they want to put in to vetting the claims you make.
