Had so many arguments with console players who kept insisting PS+ games are free games and not rentals despite them ceasing to work without an active subscription. So seeing them flip out over disc ownership given their stance on PS+ games was a strange sight to behold. Paying for online subscription is ridiculous too, but they argued in favor of it when I’d call it out.
Lot of monetization practices they accepted after the PS3 led to the situation they find themselves in.
Pokemon Art Academy would be a good test too. I’ve been drawing with that on my 3DS.
I love my DSi XL and it is actually pocketable and the dual IPS screen looks nice. I have a 3DS too but I use my DSi to play DS games, since it looks blurry on the 3DS.
I like stylus heavy games like The World Ends with You, Elite Beat Agent, Under the Knife, so I’m going to need the stylus to at least match the quality of the apple pencil or spen and have a pointy end before I consider replacing the original hardware for an emulation device.
Open source flash carts like the dspico are available too now, but not necessary with sd card all that is being needed to play on the DS after jailbreaking it.
DS isn’t too expensive with it being around the price of a new triple A title, but the 3DS has shot up in price. I haven’t touched my switch in over a year but play with my ds or 3ds on a weekly basis.
Nintendo DS I think have more stylus heavy games than the 3DS, and the DSi is still pretty reasonable in price. So I think getting a DSi is worth it. And seems to go around the price of a new triple A title and is easy to mod. There’s open source flash carts like the DSpico available, and a DS Pico with IR and PicoWalker said to be coming out too so you don’t have to get the official pokewalker and Pokemon cartridge. Those Pokemon cartridges are insane in value so it’ll be nice when the DSPico IR version is available for those wanting to utilize pokewalker with it.
If you are just playing Pokemon than stylus responsiveness doesn’t matter much, but if you are planning to play stylus heavy games then I think the actual DS is the route to go. DSi XL has the best screen among the DS line with it being dual IPS.
3DS can play 3DS and DS games, but those are like double to triple the price.
Those who are not repulsed by the idea of using products from the creators of Facebook known for privacy infringement is a red flag.
If all someone is doing for instance on a mac is browsing the web and emails and some light program use they aren’t going to notice the difference going from a m1 mac to a m4 mac.
Same with phones. These days unless somone is using resource hungry applications only noticeable area is battery, and its usually battery life that pushes people to upgrade these days.
Phones aren’t exactly consoles either pointing to how amazing the graphics are compared to the past gen. People just use the same apps like tiktok or whatever on whatever phone they picked up and experience is pretty much the same. Phones aren’t that novel anymore.
I do less now with phones or at least expect less, since I don’t do gaming on them. Just basic messaging, emails, and basic apps.
Its one of the devices where specs have mattered less and less where before upgrades were desired because just running the OS felt sluggish.
Yeah price hurts but less than I thought.
I am glad they went with the lottery again, since I know trying to snipe it as it comes into stock would just leave me clicking refresh for hours and coming up empty handed like the first steam controller release day.
And I don’t want to be having to use bots or discord channels to get alerts to try and get something that will go out of stock in seconds.
Just use gmail through the browser instead of installing stuff like the gmail app on your phone, and you can have it forward it to your email so you don’t need to open gmail to get school mail. You’ll probably just need to login for replies.
And when it comes to work in the future hopefully you’ll be a provided with a work device. I wouldn’t use a work device for personal use even if it were running Linux, and wouldn’t install work related programs on personal devices. I just consider work devices and programs to be spying on me as default.
Cryptomator being used to upload is an option to consider if cloud service providers like Google, Microsoft, or Apple are used. Then those companies will just get gibberish files as opposed to training data.
I just use a Garmin and gadget bridge. I don’t bother connecting it to the internet or using it to look at text messages.
Penalties and fines that have happened for breaking privacy laws has been too low for it to deter any companies making money off this that I don’t believe them.
Yeah, crappy looking pencil drawings are something I appreciate seeing now, since big part of why I like art is seeing something that a human did and appreciating what they are capable of.

It lost its meaning long ago when early access did not have buyer protection after a length of time that gave the option for refunds, so more people treated them as games to be viewed as regular releases you buy if you are happy with its current state.

Yeah, GrapheneOS is worth switching to by getting a compatible phone if you can afford it with how it is probably our most used and carried around electronic used for communication.
Browser would be simplest. Even though I prefer Linux and do run it, Windows might be better in your case with it having the DRM support and apps to run those services at higher resolution and HDR that sticking with browser might not allow.
For my case I picked up a cheap MiniPC and install Fedora on it to use instead of the TV interface.
People do pick up Pixel phones to install GrapheneOS on. How many people pick up Apple phones/tablets and are able to install another OS on it and have it as functional as GrapheneOS?
Same with smartwatches which from the Android side can be used offline with apps like Gadgetbridge to retrieve data without giving your watch internet access and not using the official apps.
Apple is very account and OS centric wanting to funnel everything through them. Exception has been MacOS devices which has had better luck with stuff like Asahi Linux.
Others just quietly left like me with the last Sony console I got being the PS4.
Only consoles I’m interested in picking up are ones I can jailbreak.
