I routinely delete my YT history and it’s true almost all paths lead nearby, but gaming related videos are definitely an “algorithmic shortcut” to chud bait.
Edit: also Reacher and Breaking Bad clips

Mostly interesting that they immediately leaked this info to attempt damage control.

Inside Games speculated this may be a result of Sony burning billions on failed live service starting to cut budgets on other projects. The Kojima news sort of correlates.
But basically all these annoying systems make sense in an open-world Spiderman game, where getting lost is even more annoying, but not here and so that possibly speaks to a scope change in the middle of development.

That is addressed directly in the article: it’s not the distro, it’s setting Omacon up as one of the largest funding sources, and therefore a gatekeeper to success and failure in FOSS.

It’s not that complicated. He’s just trying to get all the people he doesn’t like out of open source. With millions in the bank he can fund projects of people who think like he does or promise to.

Over on TikTok
Imma go ahead and stop you right there

And finally, his point that in 30 years, walking in to a retro shop will never result in you finding old PS6 games is sad, and I think he’s correct. My whole life I learned about new games in the used shop.
I think this is where Sony et Al. will actually pay a long-term cost for this decision. How many current PS5 owners were kids who got a hand-me-down PS2 with a stack of discs from a sibling or friend? Or someone from a country with garbage internet who migrated somewhere better?
They’re looking at this whole dark market as lost profits and not as gaining future customers and loyalists.

TBF they don’t actually offer any evidence. Correlation does not equal causation.

A dotfile repo with a personality cult.

EuroGamer won’t let you opt out of tracking cookies without paying for a subscription, which is fucking evil.

I think it’s just part of the grievance politics playbook. I delete my YouTube algorithm every few months which reveals the kind if low-effort chudbait bullshit they feed to people they don’t have a profile for. A very popular video type is “CAR DEALERS ARE FINALLY PAYING THE PRICE” videos. I have no idea what this about, as far as I know car dealerships mirror the rest of the economy. But people fucking hate car dealers so this type of thing is comforting: bad thing happens to people I don’t like.

🤦 thanks for this

The instructions I followed are in the description of the following video. A lot of what happens with this project is hidden away on Discord servers and I suspect what makes it out to the web has gone through the slop filter.

The bottom line is that I thought this might help with random crashes I’d been having with a particular emulator. Unfortunately it had the opposite effect and the same emulator now consistently hard-locks the system after this “fix”.

Seems that way

I have zero interest in this game, but I’m weirdly rooting for them. We need mid-tier developers taking risks with new IPs.
It also sounded like the devs were personally burned out on Pokemon and needed to try something new. Would hate for their lesson to be “stick to the cash cow”.

Finally some unbiased Linux reporting from… windowslatest dot com.

XBOX, the everything app!
I trust you’re checking Is There Any Deal… Pragmata has had pretty consistent $10 off from other Steam key stores, including Fanatical right now.
