Feel free to point out when they do something stupid, but if you’re going to do that try to keep it to the facts instead of trying to make it seem like every dumb little thing they do is the apocalypse. It’s impossible to take you seriously with titles like this.

The problem is that everything near Antarctica is just north of Antarctica, including things on the complete opposite side of the entire continent. It’s just a way of saying near Antarctica that sounds like you’re giving more information than you really are.

All of the individually identifiable genetic information in the genome is in the other 0.1%. This is a privacy community. A complete understanding of how genetics works is neat and all, but it’s not relevant to the conversation we’re having. I didn’t say that all humans 99.9% identical to each other. That’s obviously not true. I said that there’s no point in storing duplicate copies of identical genetic sequences, and that saying they store less than 0.1% of your genome only says they’re not doing that.

For the record, 5-10% is way plenty to narrow things down to a very tiny number of people. Probably one in most cases, and it contains a lot of important medical information. That’s not some trivial unimportant thing.

99.9% of your genome is exactly identical to every other human on Earth. <0.1% just means they aren’t storing things that don’t change between people, because why would they?

A lot of food doesn’t even have an expiration date. It’s more common on a lot of foods to have a sell by date, which is not the same thing as an expiration date, and some foods are even just labelled with a packaged date, which is hopefully always in the past. Otherwise you’ve got bigger problems than spoiled food. MREs are especially notorious for this.

That being said though, I’m still usually the one throwing food out. At some point you just have to admit you’re not going to eat it, and no one wants your dubious opened packages or half eaten leftovers. It’s just gonna have to go eventually.

I guarantee that it is physically impossible to fill a cardboard box with pure neutronium. Is it physically possible to get over 70 lbs of the stuff in there in a stable, shippable manner? I don’t know, and neither do you. It’s certainly far, FAR beyond the capability of any technology on Earth, but I guess it might maybe possibly not break the laws of physics. I can’t prove that though, and neither can you, so neither of us can actually prove the statement wrong.

I would guess Zen 1 through Zen 4 is currently the majority of gaming PCs. It’s certainly a massive percentage. I don’t think game companies can realistically just blacklist all of them.

Sometimes a lot less, depending on the crop you’re comparing them to, but yeah, it’s a lot of land that could be growing things for humans, and there’s more of it than there needs to be. Sorry. No. No. That’s completely wrong. That’s not what I think, because it doesn’t make any sense. There are no crops that can be effectively and cheaply grown in rocky, arid wasteland. If we weren’t using it to let cattle graze, it would be wild land being grazed by buffalo instead. Now, maybe you could argue that would still be better, but it wouldn’t be growing food for humans any more efficiently. Buffalo aren’t actually any more efficient than cattle at producing meat, and nobody’s hauling water up to into the high Rockies to irrigate rocks. That’s not a real thing that people would be doing if cattle weren’t grazing there.

What? There are lots of legitimate complaints about the meat and dairy industries, but almost all that land being used for them is arid, rocky wasteland that has a cow wander over it twice a year. That’s not actually even on the list of problems with those industries.

Yes to the first part, no to the second. For some reason people like to pretend that surveillance is a binary on or off thing, but that’s gross oversimplification to the point of being more damaging than an actual lie. All the various government agencies collect whatever easy to find information about you there is to get, but that information is possible for you to have some control over, and it’s too expensive for them to really properly process all of it. It’s just some random bits of trivia about you sitting in a bunch of disconnected databases until somebody takes an interest in you. If they start to take an interest in you, they start coordinating their information and actually targeting you for more individualized information gathering. This is adding gay and trans people to that next level up of surveillance, and that absolutely does change things. Pretending nothing the government does matters and there’s no point in even trying is maybe the most harmful lie you can spread. Please don’t.

Oh come on. Seriously? They’re going to lose “freedom”, and democracy, and the economy is going to go to shit, and the world is going to be less stable, and also they’re not the ones who are going to end up homeless and destitute and worrying about the government killing them. It’s not that fucking complicated.

The problem have isn’t that they don’t have all the same goals as me. The problem I have is that they’re idiots who are going to lose everything they care about because they refuse to accept reality and they’ll be mostly fine while the rest of us suffer for their failure.

If it is on a collision course we probably have time to do something about it. If we don’t do anything about it it’ll probably hit the ocean and it’s not big enough to cause any kind of crazy mega tsunami or anything like that. If it does hit land it’ll probably hit in the middle of nowhere and kill, like, 12 people, and if it does manage to beat all the odds and hit a major city it will be a major disaster, but it’s not going to be the apocalypse or anything.

That sounds like a massive waste of time and money for something that people will only ever notice when it goes wrong. How about making a good game instead of spending millions of dollars on fancy window dressing?

We’re just going to go in circles at this point, so I guess I’ll just let Iraq, Afganistan, and Vietnam know they’ve been conquered and are part of the US now and resistance is futile. Or maybe only the US can fail? I’ll let Afganistan know they’re part of Russia instead then.
