Yup and my wife is constantly complaining that my son and I won’t poop in public. It’s a childhood trauma that nobody wants to recognize and prevent. Men’s bathrooms should by code be floor to ceiling and private, especially in schools.
I mean, – on the one hand – that presumes parents are encouraging their little ones to rush strangers going to the bathroom (and that toddlers wouldn’t take the opportunity to put their hands on the floor if the stall walls just were low enough) but, also, it’s a very unserious comment.
Maybe it’s a lack of a ventilation system why the doors have gaps? I am from Europe where the gaps are not as excessive as in the US, still they exist and the trauma is real.

I don’t know what the US obsession is with giving anyone the option to crawl under or climb over a stall door.
I don’t know what the US obsession is with making us hear and smell our bathroom stall neighbors either.
Sometimes a toddler who doesn’t know any better crawls under and that’s pretty cute.
